When I visited HERD in July while we were enjoying the three males - Sebakwe, Somopane and Jabulani, I asked Willington what happens when lions are near, as we could hear lions roaring very close to us. Willington told me that they didn’t worry about lions when the 3 bulls were around. They would chase away any lions threatening the herd or the humans. Thank goodness!

@@SuperBentley55 Yes!! All three bulls allowed us to touch them, hold their tusks. We fed them their pellet treats. Sebakwe, 37 y.o., was very majestic and kingly, as he ate his preferred Lucerne grass. Jabulani, 25 y.o., allowed us to take photos with him as we sat on a wall and he put his foot up - “foot up, foot up” Carer Godknows told him. Lastly my favorite bull Somopane, 35 y.o., allowed me to sing to him, hold his tusk and talk baby talk to him. I rubbed his trunk and his face and he didn’t seem to mind at all. I fell in love with those three elephants. The females and Khanyisa were a short distance away as having her near us would have brought several females as well for her protection so the three bulls serve as the HERD ambassadors and what a good job they do.

Everytime I see Timi I marvel at her eyes - they are absoutely BEAUTIFUL. Our Princess has her gorgeous traits obviously, but something about Timi's face w/ her eyes makes her stunning to me. I usually notice the eyes first, and sometimes it can be hard to see an Ele's, especially if you are like Bubi who has those MASSIVELY LONG eyelashes making her look glamorous 24/7... the boys have it too, but Timi's eyes are really something special.

Timi is such a gorgeous little girl with the most beautiful eyes 😍 Khanyisa can be such a little rascal at times 🤣 Seeing her forage & eat bark & hardy plants like the rest of the herd reminds me how far she has come. I remember her as a little baby & had just started venturing into the bush with the herd, she couldn't yet stomach foliage, couldn't even reach it! She was on milk only. Those were the days! 🥰❤🙏🐘

In Africa, when fruit falls from trees, all of the animals rejoice. In Seattle, when fruit falls from trees, everybody fills up their yard waste containers. I guess we don't know how good we have it in our lives. My wife filled up the yard waste container with what I estimate to be 200 lbs of green apples on Sunday afternoon. Then we have Japanese pears that have skin like leather. I wish she hadn't planted that tree. We have never eaten any of them. The neighbors like them. We give them away. Then she goes shopping at Trader Joe's and buys Fuji's and Braebern's for a dollar a piece and complains about the price of self inflicted inflation here in the US. Be thankfull for what you have. Khanyisa and Timisa sure are.

I loved how Bubi 🐘 moved closer to them. When you were pointing out things on Zindoga 🐘 the pink spot behind his ear and as you moved towards his eye he has long beautiful lashes like his mother Bubi 🐘. That was very interesting as I had never noticed that before. This was a very informative video today. Thank you for sharing. Oh and I think I found another follower today at my Drs. Office. I love watching all the other wildlife in with the Ellie's. Have you ever seen a lion chasing the Impala's or one catching one? Poor Timisa, Khanyisa needs to learn she isn't the only elephant there. I totally understand the horror K went thru but she is too spoiled. K gets all the attention even tho little Timisa wants attention too. Timisa was just telling khanyisa to back off but was told to stop it. I love all the elephants but my favorite is Timisa, Fishan, Kumbura and Sebakwe. I love them all tho!!! Kumbura is a special beautiful girl too!! Gosh I love them all! There is a small business a few miles from my house that has a life size elephant mom and baby that are painted pink. I am thinking about stopping one day to ask them if I can buy them. They would look great painted gray and put in my horse pasture with my horses. 🐘🐘🐘🐘💖❤️❣️💕

I don’t think any animal would be foolish enough to even consider something like that with the Jabulani herd! There’s a video on their sister channel ‘Jabulani’ titled ‘Elephants, Jabulani & Sebakwe Chase Away a Pride of Lion’, where you can see the dominant bulls protecting the herd. How is Jabulani? Is his wound healed or a lot better? Sebakwe seems to be chewing that one piece of vegetation like forever. As always the Africa sky feels like you can almost touch it. I wonder why thst Buffalo was by itself. Buffalo are herd animals too, and spend most of their lives in a herd. I hope it's ok. Khanysia growth can be measured beside Timisa, and she is closer and closer to Timisa shoulder height,, she may very well be a large elephant. I always love seeing Bubi, she is so aware of her surroundings. I hope she and khanysia become buddies when khanysia gets older. Thanks for the sight of Sebakwe and Setombe and for the longer vid. Hi Adine, I must ask for help for elephants at the louisville zoo in Kentucky USA. my heart breaks when i see the mom and baby , no water no food on cement all day. I am from Kentucky and i can't believe my state can be so heartless. i have left them messages many times with no reply. i told them to contact you if they had questions about elephant care. i don't know what else to do. its just breaking my heart to see mom put her trunk in the pool area with no water, then go through the motion of spraying it on her. makes me cry.

No, the Impala are not a threat to the elephants. I think they (the carers) were watching the Impala closely to see what they were reacting to.
