Filipina goes to Singapore

After an amazing UFC 275 experience, Chrissy and I hit a couple of tourist areas in the town. It is fun seeing her experience her first full day in a new country!

Chrissy's smile says it all. Seeing her happy and experiencing a new world puts a smile on my face. So much has changed since I left in '98. I'd be lost when I visit again. BTW Char Kuay Teow, 2/10, that's the national dish together with chicken rice. Try fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, a noddle dish. Enjoy the remaining days in the little red dot.

On Sunday, there are a couple (more?) malls where all the Filipina(o) workers come to socialize. Lucky Plaza is perhaps the most famous. It has a lot of Filipino food stalls /restaurants.

The gardens by the bay is a must see place to go at night all the big tower thingys light up with different colours. You can walk right through that big hotel with the pool on top to get there. The inside of the hotel also has a garden. Beautiful place Singapore we found it really easy to get around as well as it is set up really well for tourists.

An amazing difference in that city since 1971. Man has it grown! It was beautiful then and more so now. Enjoy your time there and I hope you enjoy the city/country as much as I. The food is outstanding and the people are fantastic. Take away 95% of the tall buildings, and you would see it as I did. Enjoy your stay!

I don't know for how long or where you plan to go in Malaysia but if you happen to go as far north as Penang, there is a snake temple there that Chrissy would get a kick out of near Georgetown & of course the Petronas Twin Towers are a must see. We went out to an Island Chain called Langkawi, if I remember and spelled the name correctly. Anyway, just suggestions. Have fun

The char Kuay teow Chris did not like. There is a much better one at Hong Lim market and food centre second floor Outram fried kuay teow , which is good. Long queue though .In Singapore when you try a dish you find not very nice , it sometimes just means it came from a bad stall and not necessarily mean that food is not nice.

Don't forget to try the Malay and Indian food at the hawker centres. But it you missed, you can find them in Malaysia too. Same races found in these 2 countries. All the more Chrissy should try the Malay and Indian coz she is not into the Chinese char kway teow.
