Good evening Tim I have a 650i E63 with the so-called ‘comfort access’. The key stays in my pocket at all times. Hand on the door handle, pull once to unlock, pull a second time to open and, once inside, press the brake pedal and start button to hear the lion roar. At the end of the journey, press the start button to silence her, exit the car, close the door and hold the right hand on the door handle with thumb on the lock and she locks. Simples!
@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformationАй бұрын
I have comfort access as well - and gave your plan a go tonight - pull once - pull twice - nothing! I'll have a go with Carly to see if I can find something to change

Timm, I had the F12 for 3 years and the E63 for 4 years before that. Unfortunately, mine got caught up in the engine recall over the valve stems. The dealer kept it for a month, applied the CCP (Customer Care Package), and honestly, it felt like a Ferrari when they finished. Eventually, I traded it, along with a Panamera S, and transitioned to multiple F02 7-Series models. The air suspension on those far surpassed anything prior. Over 35 years, I’ve owned 21 BMWs. The F12 was the last truly great 6-Series. I had the 2018 F06, but it lost the magic, just like the G12 did with the 7-Series. BMW stopped making true driving machines after 2015.
@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformationАй бұрын
Thanks! 35 years on BMW's isn't bad, I'm around the same with the first being an E28 518i which got written off in an RTA!

I’ve got an F06 and although Timm’s car looks very nice in all the right ways, I’m a 7 series man so I think the F02 will be my next choice.

Tim, thanks for all your posts about the 650, I had my E63 for 8 years and with your guides it remained great shape. I’ve now moved on to an EV, (a 585 bhp KIA EV6 GT), which delivers performance on a different level. I’m convinced the age of petrol cars is coming to an end now EVs are so good, and no oil leaks!

Hi again Timm! It's the third month of my being in possesion of 645 2003 and it just went on a full engine service (not only the engine) and thanks to your videos i knew exactly what was i talking about, when talking about the potential problems of the car :) Lucky me my best friend - the mechanic doing the work knew allready all about all of them but anyways i showed him all the printscreens regarding the possible problems - i cut them all off from many of your videos. THANKS MAN! YO'RE A LEGEND, WHAT AN EXCELLENT JOB YOU'VE DONE. Thanks to all that even non mechanics have a lot of advanced knowledge that only good mechanics possess.

My 97 E39 (540i) has the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel but each button has a completely different profile. Admittedly, there are times I am feeling around for the right button, but for straight-road driving, no problem. I like the simplicity rather than the overthinking BMW did subsequently.

Still makes me chuckle watching Timm using the lever when it has paddles! Paddles Timm, paddles! My 640 has keyless go but not keyless entry unfortunately.

Thanks for an idea for the next video - 'why paddles on the steering wheel are useless'!

@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation 😂😂😂 I use mine a lot, surely they do exactly the same as the centre console lever when in manual mode?

Pleased to hear You are enjoying the F12. I purchased a F13 about 6 months ago. Truly the nicest and most complicated car I have ever owned. The engine sounds and handling are most enjoyable. Be sure to change the oil much more frequently than BMW recommends. I do oil change at 3000 - 5000 miles maximum.

Nice video Timm. Cars can be a bit like new shoes, you have to wear them in and get used to them. Looking forward to many more videos. Some of the features of the F12 you mentioned I have in my E63 650i Edition Sport. The Steptronic gearbox for one is awesome, I actually love the manual mode on the paddles in drive. It's great for engine breaking and overtaking. I've driven quite a few newer BMW's and some of the features can be mind blowing albeit maybe little gimmicky, keyless entry for example. The one thing I really hate about modern BMW's, and many other makes, is the information screen pod. For me it's like the designers forgot to put them in, so they just bolted them to the dashboard. The F12 however is the first one I think I could get used to. I mean it's still a pod, but looks designed instead of an afterthought. Keep up the great work Timm

I couldn't agree more, I'm growing into the F12 now - but still love driving the E31, so different.

55 mpg? I have a 2018 F06 GC and even driving like a granny you’re looking at 45mpg. Still a lot better than 21mpg and I reckon not a lot slower than the 650i.

Love your channel, you have saved my E39 a dozen times with your advice, but all that being said I think the F12 is the fat bird at the school disco that no one wants to dance with. Sorry.

My first thought was, you must have had a bad day, and then you changed your tune. Somewhere in 2nd gear near the rev limiter, is my guess🙂 It goes like stink, looks like a million, and I'm envious. What year is it? You never mentioned that, I think. All the modern cars are similar, AFAIK, you have to push the ignition button to wake it up. Oh, and I told you; you're going to love the 8 speed auto. I have yet to experience anything smoother than that. I had the F10 (525D) and the G32 (630d GT) both with 8 speed auto. Especially the G32 was fantastic, though not to everybody's liking.
@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformationАй бұрын
Thanks Kim, it's a 2011 - so 13 years old already! It really needed a good thrashing, once I stopped babying the car it came alive!
@L0RDLUKАй бұрын
As far as the keyless entry goes, can you not do it the same way as with an E63/64? I can just come to my E63 with my key in my pocket, put my hand behind the handle and the car unlocks itself. That way I don't even have to take it out of my pocket. Same thing with locking it, you just put your hand on the lock and the car simply locks itself.
@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformationАй бұрын
Unfortunately my F12 did not come with the comfort feature, as did my E64!
@StephenGarnettАй бұрын
The trickiest thing for me re: keyless entry is programming 2 seperate profiles to 2 different keys. I just can't manage it somehow. Maybe a good idea for a tutorial (if you have 2 different drivers intended for this vehicle)? I'm more of a speed limiter guy than cruise control TBH, but take a big fat guess what button is right next to the limit button on the wheel of my M6... Anyway, kitty likes your f12, and kitty is in charge.

If I could get in with the key in my pocket I would be happy!
