I love how people are upset at Kurt for filming and releasing the video but they're not upset at the government that put them in that situation in the first place. When Kurt went there, people knew they were being filmed and still decided to talk to him. I'm Cuban myself, I left when I was 3 years old, in this situation I would be calling out the communist government that took those people to jail and put them in a situation where they had to illegally exchange money, sell stolen/fake cigars, etc. not the tourist that went over there, spent money in local businesses, and filmed his stay, which he is 100% allowed to do.

I have been going to Cuba since 2000, about 50 trips. When I saw Kurt's video, I knew it was not going to end well for the people he exposed. I was lucky enough to have a man and his family take me under his wing and teach me the facts of REALITY for the Cuban people. Discretion is the key word for living in Cuba. Your actions can have long lasting effects for those people who are just trying to survive on $20.00 a month or less. I have written dozens of stories about my adventures in Cuba, usually with a humorous slant because when two cultures collide, really funny situations can happen, usually due to misinterpretation of the language. Respect is the key word down there and that is where Kurt failed miserably. He failed to respect the people, their culture or the realities of Cuban law. I wish the realities of life in Cuba were easier for the Cuban people but the cold hard truth of it is, as long as the Embargo is in place, nothing can change.

Let's be real here, Latino guys generally don't mind their wife hugging-or-kissing other guys, even on-the-lips (Timmy's past videos are proof of this, such as the Puerto Escondido one or the Guatemala cafe one)....so it's no wonder they took in a foreign man. Third, Cuba doesn't really have a culture. It's too new of a country to do so. Cuba -- like the rest of the Spanish speaking Caribbean -- may have a few unique attributes, but its culture is the result of preexisting indigenous culture, African cultures, and European cultures.

Damn, that was a huge wake-up call. I really really enjoyed Kurt's videos a year ago when I first discovered them. Then I seen Timmy in the Colombia video and immediately binged all of Timmy's videos and subscribed immediately. I discovered Timmy through Kurt. Kurt's demeanour changed as he got more money. The recent video where he had a camera man following him, while smoking a cigar in a rented BMW, driving through Colombia seemed like such a flex for no reason and WTF is this army thing he is trying to push now. All of this completely takes away from the novelty of his videos prior to the fame. I used to also use drugs in my younger days and you can see on his face that he has an issue with coke. His video uploads are inconsistent and he is struggling to make content. Hence the reason he used Cuba as a form of exploitation for views. If he was aware of the circumstances or not, he clearly realized that Cuba is still a communist state. Their laws are different from the majority of the world, and tourism is probably the moajority of their economy. Anything that would taint/portray Cuba in a bad way, which could negatively impact the tourism in Cuba would certainly be dealt with to the utmost extreme measures. It's common sense, or atleast it should be for such a seasoned traveller. This really upset me and concluded my already hindered thoughts about liking Kurt's channel any more. Timmy, you continue to amaze me by being such a down to earth individual and I have to give my greatest kudos to you. Time and time again, you remind me why I choose to support you through every video. What he's claiming about the government being super strict is 100% true, also regarding the scammers and prostitutes and such doing things out of absolute necessity, that is also 100% true, but one thing that he dose not mention is that the government let's some things slide, to a certain extent, because they simply can't control everyone, or throw them all in jail, and the low ranking police are also in the same crappy situation as the rest of the people, they're also struggling with their salaries being around 6000 pesos, equivalent to $20 US a month, so they know the struggles of their people and the majority of the low ranking officers let a lot of petty things slide, this is why the two prostitutes who kurt filmed trying to hook up with him, or the guy selling him Cigars, etc, non of these people had a clue who Kurt was and how they were going to be on KZbin with millions watching, they simply thought kurt was just making some personal travel video and so they were not at all concerned about it, however when Kurt's videos got millions of hits and it's exposing the ugly and very sad side of Cuba to the whole world, now this is no joke, this is no longer the average policeman's territory it's the higher ranking government and military people's territory who've gotten wind of it, and these people are no joke, these people are the same ones who sentenced over 210 kids aged 14 to 19 to 10 to 25 years in prison for simply protesting on the streets back in July of 2021! The only thing I can say that is not true is that those girls didn't get 20 years, prostitution is 3.5 to 7 years, and the guy selling cigars will get anywhere from 1 to 5 years in jail, not 20 years as he claims. As for Kurt, I'm not sure if he even realizes what has happened, not sure if he even cares... he definitely has changed a lot since his early videos, you can totally see it from his earliest videos where he's always smiling and very friendly, to his latest videos where he seems to get more and more agitated with people and situations, he even walks differently now, doesn't smile as much as before, definitely complains a lot more, and is drinking all the time! I’ve been a watching and following Kurt for a long time. Can echo what everyone is stating. I noticed a huge attitude change in him in the Thailand blogs. Was extremely rude to a lot of people and the narcissistic attitude came across really clear. I got the hunch he was withdrawn or missing something and like others have mentioned it appears the white powder. Also the girls he features in the Brazil and Columbia videos are arranged beforehand through social media. They are made to seem like he meets them randomly but if you dig deeper he likely paid them money intially to give a tour and things moved from there. I came across Kurt Caz's channel 2 months ago and always had a weird feeling about his content, I got the vibe that he was a jerk, ultimately not someone I'd want to be around. I always thought that was weird since every other creator I follow seems chill and like someone who you'd enjoy exploring with. In the videos that I watched of Kurt's I noticed how he has an egotistical vibe when creating content, it's like he looks down on everyone who's not him, especially those in a low income country. As a Canadian I've been going there for many years and I have many many good friends there that are like family to me. I was actually living there (by accident) for 2 years during the pandemic because Cuba allowed me to overstay my visa due to the pandemic, so when I came across Kurt's Cuba videos I was really excited, but only after watching this video is when I started to realize what exactly has happened... What this video is claiming about the Cuban government being super strict is 100% true, also regarding the scammers and prostitutes and such doing things out of absolute necessity, etc, that is also 100% true, but one thing not mention here is that the system let's a lot of things slide, to a certain extent, because they simply can not control everyone, or throw them all in jail, and so the low ranking police who are in the same boat as the rest of the people struggling with life and their crappy salaries of around 6000 pesos, equivalent to $20 USD /month, they too know the struggles of their people and the majority of the low ranking officers let a some of the "petty crimes" slide, this is why the two prostitutes who tried to hook up with Kurt, or the guy selling Cigars to him illegally (those were all fake cigars), etc, non of these people had a clue who Kurt is and that they will be on KZbin with millions watching, they simply thought that Kurt was just another Yuma (Cuban derogatory slang for a foreigner, similar to Gringo) making some personal travel videos and so they were not concerned about it, however when Kurt's Cuba videos get millions of hits and it's exposing the ugly and very sad realities of Cuba to the whole world, now this is no joke, this is no longer the average policeman's territory, now it's the high ranking government and military people who've gotten the whiff of it and these people are no joke, these people are the same ones who sentenced over 210 kids aged 14 to 19 yrs old to 10 - 25 years in jail for simply protesting their crappy living conditions back in July of 2021!! The only thing I can say that is not true in this video is that those girls didn't get 20 years, prostitution is from 3.5 to 7 years, and the guy selling cigars will get anywhere from 1 to 5 years in jail, not 20 years as he claims. As for Kurt, I'm not sure if he even realizes what has happened, not sure if he even cares... he definitely has changed a lot since his early videos, you can totally see it from his videos 2-3 years ago where he is always smiling and very friendly, to his latest videos where he seems to always be agitated, he even walks differently now, he doesn't smile as much as before, definitely complaims more, and is drinking all the time! However, living here I've gained so much appreciation for what I have. When you see how an average person on this planet lives on a day to day basis, you realize just how privileged you are. In 1999 I visited Cuba to purchase cigars (I owned a cigar shop at the time on St John), and we met a great local guide who helped us purchase over 50 boxes. After we boarded our plane home, police armed with machine guns removed us from the plane and questioned us for 2 hours regarding the cigars. We were held for 1 extra night in Havana, but never once mentioned who sold them to us. We lost most of the cigars and were of course allowed to leave, but our only concern was our guide who we later contacted by phone and he was ok...thank god! Went to Cuba once, sat in a line at the airport, waited probably 1.5hrs-2hrs just to get to check in, that’s before the metal detectors and entrance into Cuba. When my family got to the front of the line, they started putting people with children and people with medical conditions ahead of us and everyone else that was in that line, at least 100 other people in the line with us. Everyone was outraged and the security staff literally just stood there and laughed at our distress. The the booth worker checking passports got up and left for 15 minutes. Worst country ever.

Here's an example... When I went to Mexico, of course I'm in the beautiful tourists areas and etc. I always loved the poor areas as they are in every country. So, I'm in a poor village, treated like gold and I loved every second. Was there people trying to make money off tourists? Of course but, that's everywhere. So my point is, I seen the rich areas and the poor but I would never expose anyone regardless. My late dad always told me. "Son, you're not better but, you're not worse....
