XX is now #1, well deserved after cloud walking these years. Doesn't matter he wins or not, we still adore and enjoy his superb skills around the court. Awesome talent, amazing athlete.

It really pains me to see timo loose this way. He really seems to be in pain and somewhat lost his never giving up attitude in this match. But we have seen such comments on him many times but time and time again he comes back and proves us wrong. I hope he continues to play for as long as he can. Because he is truely a sportsman and inspiration for many tt fans. He is like the face of table tennis.

Penhold should be superior... bat is more in line with palm of hand... no wrist bending is required on forehand & more wrist action can be incorporated into shots. Only drawback is fingers on blade on RPB.

I love the style of Xu Xin, so I use CS blade. Xu Xin 's forehand is so strong, but now his backhand also improved. I guess I need to learn how to use backhand instead of traditional counter block.

@1:14 XX RPB is too spinny for Timo to drive back. It's normal/proper physics but it reminds me to wonder how Lin (Taiwan) can always smash/drive spinny loop drives back with such ease while other top-class players can't (seen here). With skill ruled out, it must be the equipment.

The Chinese play with more power.They can override the spin of the opponent.Boll always goes for maximum spin that's why when he makes a small error with the racquet angle or the swing he misses the ball.Harimoto uses the same equipment as Boll yet he can hit through spin cause he takes the ball early and uses the spin of the opponent.According to the Chinese coaches heavy spin without speed is good only as a variation.You can always see Boll trying too hard cause he can't overpower his opponents.

Lin just countered everything thrown at him, just doesn't look right. Hari's strokes still fit into physics law but Lin's? I don't know, maybe time will tell.

This upgraded game... & more aggressive & consistent RPB by Xu Xin must be a reaction to his disappointing performance at recent World Championships...⁉️ He's obviously decided he's got to step up & improve these shots & aspects of this style keeping him down or he will fade out of CNT... I did see a video where Liu Guaoliang addressed National team & said Xu Xin's style is 'out-dated' so I assume that cut deep... but that video was back a year or two. I assumed Liu Guoliang meant long range spin looping is less effective these days with new plastic ball... Some adjustment was obviously required from Xu Xin.

he's making mistakes because he's getting old, you can see from the forehand rallies that whenever he's given more time to breathe he plays fine, but in the situations where you need high reaction and explosion, he's getting too slow

Samuel Pardana, just general flicks and short top spins, most are missing the table, almost like his setup is off, funny thing is I find that Xu Xin also looses more points in rallies, he steps away from table giving himself lots of time to lob and chase down balls, but in rallies I see him loose more these days, but he seems to be on form for this Open.
