The shot when Timo anticipates XX's topspin in his forehand and counter-attacks it very fast like he did 4 or 5 times between 3:20 and 4:45 is absolutely INSANE. We can also notice how good he plays the high balls : no need of having lots of power, just good placement so XX can't counter-attack. So much anticipation and cleverness by him... THIS is what you need to beat the Chinese, too bad Timo didn't play so good all the time

@NeOsino A lot of the pros don't use equipment from their sponsers. Many Europeans use Tenergy 05, Ma Long (DHS) uses a Butterfly blade and BH rubber, ZJK is the same, Ma Lin uses the YEO and T05 on the BH and that's just some of the CNT.

Boll seems to be a better at counter looping atm, normally when Xu Xin was able to unleash his forehand, the point was over, but this time, Boll stayed in the point by countering some, which made all the difference.

I think Boll came here just to beat Xu Xin. I believe that's the only Chinese player he hadn't beaten yet. He has wins on all the others. And Boll was pouncing on everything. Including things that were pounced on by Xu Xin. Have you seen such crazy counter topspins?

The way that Timo Boll played here, especially during the later sets, ironically resembles the chinese style of play (close to the table, initiating attacks). Surprisingly, Xu Xin, being from China, did not see it coming, and underestimating Boll's adaptability became his downfall. If Boll tried that on Ma Lin though, he would get his ass handed to him.
