I grew up with this movie when i was like 5 years old i immediately fell in love with this movie, this was like my first live action introduction to the chipmunks and I’ve loved them ever since, this isn’t like one of my favourite movies out of the whole franchise but it’s still good, wait til you see the Squeakquel and Chipwrecked it gets so much better.

In 1957, a struggling songwriter, Ross Bagdasarian Sr, had $200 left in the bank and spent it on a state-of-the-art tape recorder. He found he could change his voice by speeding up and then slowing it down at a certain pitch, so he used it for a song "Witch Doctor" when this became a hit, the record label were very happy and asked for another one "Christmas, Don't Be Late". So Ross created characters to go with the voice which eneded up being the Chipmunks. He would go on to create an animated series "The Alvin Show" which ran from 1961-1962. After he passed in 1972, his son, Ross Jr and his wife Janice Karman revived the brand with a Christmas Special in 1981, with Ross Jr voicing Alvin, Simon and Dave with Janice as Theodore. They went on to create the more well known series which ran on NBC between 1983-1990. They made a feature film "The Chipmunk Adventure" in 1987. Also a couple of direct-to-video films with Universal "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman" in 1999 and 2000. That's when we come to the live-action films. Ross and Janice were originally meant to reprise their roles from the 80's series and even recorded their dialogue, but the studio, Fox, insisted on bigger names. The idea of Ross playing live-action Dave was thrown around. There was also a new cartoon "ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks" that ran on Nickelodeon between 2015-2023.

Enjoyed this movie as I grew up in the 60's, and at the time The Chipmunks were popular and I wish I still had the vinyl 78 rpm record of this from my youth. Had a lot of records back then. Dave Seville was voiced by Bagdasarian Sr, the creator of The Chipmunks from 1958-1972. Bagdasarian voiced the animated Chipmunks. The nostalgia feels. EEEE! 😄
