I remember watching the marathon which lead to the Best Day Ever episode in 2006 which was fun. As for the episode, it’s lukewarm. It was also meant for season 5 as it has the season 5 production code, but switched places with season 5 episode 2B. The Gift of Gum was gross but I don’t have much to say about it. The Pink Purloiner I liked, especially with the friendship aspects of SpongeBob and Patrick. Squid Wood, SpongeBob was obnoxious here and Squidward didn’t do anything wrong. Also shows how much the characters and dynamics changed throughout season 4. And the SpongeBob movie actually was made and released after season 3 in 2004. Season 4 started production after the movie which explained the transition of the series.

We finally got to the episode. Aside from Sweet Victory, Best Day Ever was one of the most popular SpongeBob songs. It’s been most played on soundtracks, it’s on many KZbin playlists, it was played during the end credits of the first SpongeBob movie and yes it’s even been used in the SpongeBob musical. It truly is a feel great song to get through the day.

Oh man. I haven’t seen the Best Day Ever episode in years and since then, that jingle has been living in my head and I don’t blame it because it’s a great catchy tune. Now that I’m older, I feel his pain. There were many times where I tried to make plans for anything, even if it is a working schedule, there’s always something that gets in the way and it infuriates me the most. "The Pink Purloiner" was dull and almost wrecked SpongeBob and Patrick's friendship. "Squid Wood" was just another Squidward torture fest. Now with "Best Day Ever", that had a lot of hype leading up to it. Of course, it's based on the song of the same name that originally came out with the 2004 theatrical film (played at one point during the end credits). You can listen to the full version of the song on the 2004 movie's soundtrack. Now, I'm personally fond of the original song, for I remember listening to it on the 2004 movie soundtrack back in the day when I was 12. The episode adaptation, though, was a little disappointing. "The Gift of Gum", though, was both weak and gross. Now we've finished season 4, the mixed bag of a season. I should warn you, though, that season 5 is mostly filled with really brief and uninspired episodes.

Ah, yes. The biggest letdown the SpongeBob producers ever made. They hyped Best Day Ever for WEEKS like it was the next SpongeBob movie, and then it was 20 minutes long, had 1 tolerable song, no new characters, and no new locations. It was very fitting that SpongeBob was terribly disappointed with his day, and I was very disappointed with the episode. This was the point in the show when I stopped caring, because of this episode.
