I’m the same way when I date. When even a short fling doesn’t work out with a woman, it leaves me crushed. I just had a first date with a woman that I thought went well, and she did not want to go out again. It totally has affected my entire mood, work, and sleep quality. I keep wondering what it is about me that it just keeps not working out with women I am into. When I go through long periods of not dating, I am much more at peace with myself.

@@504fireman75 I've had that happen once or twice. One time the lady I met basically made zero effort to look nice on the date (she looked like she just came from the gym). Last couple years of dating have been especially like all work and no fun. I'm pretty much done, unless the woman of my dreams drops out of the sky. My favorite was a recent one. I ran into a lady out at my favorite coffee shop and we had a great conversation. Got her number and she just texted and said "let's be acquaintances". Didn't even make it to the friend zone 😆😆😆 As a man, I've also "hit the wall" 😀

Being single is the only way I can stay sane. I can't deal with someone else. I learned that the hard way. About 6 or 7 major relationships. I'm 50. I can't do it anymore. I'm so much happier on my own. I'll never let society, family, nor friends ever influence my decisions in life ever again. It's hard, but it can be done. If my dumb butt can do it, anyone can. Just have to be strong as hell.

It took me a long time to realize how stupid I actually think it is to share life with someone. I’ve spent 47 years like trying to live up to this stooopid idea of merging with another human being 24/7. I just gave myself permission to think what I want about this topic and I’m so fulfilled in the idea of spending the rest of my life enjoying me and my life to the fullest. I can barely handle the idea of how much time I’ve spent buying into this merging humans idea. We are evolving people with differences that are totally squandered in a shared life, shared space, etc. I just can’t. I’m so happy I love myself now. Omg it feels so good.

36 and never dated a girl longer than 6 months. Never had a committed relationship in my life. I've been through the dating gauntlet plenty of times to know what it entails for me, and it's a lot of time, effort, and REJECTION. I don't blame people for being single and I don't blame people who aren't. It's highly personal to each person and it's very complicated when you think of why some people remain single and why others don't. I'm in the single-probably-all-my-life club both by choice and also not by choice. It's part of my personal concoction I guess. It is a complicated thing for me

I’m a 30 year old male and still single. People always say to not take rejection personally, but when it keeps happening over and over, it starts to really crush your spirit. All the hope in starting a dating relationship with a woman, and then when it doesn’t work out, it’s still devastating. All the hope is crushed in an instant, and it always leaves me ruminating for days/weeks over what I did wrong. I feel much more at peace at the times I am single and haven’t dated in a while.

@@JamesChessman his lyrics are both political and personal, mentioning the “government and the hypocrites which he really hated,” as well as talking to a woman who is crying and telling her not to cry and to forget the past. Marley is reminding the woman of the good memories, and the fact that “everything’s gonna be alright”. I loved this video. You highlighted the benefits of this mindset so well. I've never felt romantically attracted to anyone else (as a result, I identify as aromantic), so I had to reckon with these questions in my 20s once it was clear that I didn't experience the feelings that other people did. But it doesn't make me feel sad, because there are so many benefits to my single lifestyle. I know that I'm living life the way that I was supposed to, independent and free. And I have great friends.

I am so glad this video popped up on my KZbin today. I have been giving myself permission not to date again. And I am OK with that. I have nothing against people who love being in a relationship, but it just wasn’t for me and I’m happier being solo. ironically society has almost the same view about relationships that it has about drinking. When I decided to give up alcohol people were like are you sure and I’m getting the same question about not being in a relationship. But neither one of those things give me joy anymore, so I am happy being single.

The title of the video is a great mindset to have. It demonstrates great contentment with who you are, and that your whole life purpose and identity is not wrapped up in getting a GF/spouse. Often it feels like our worth as a man depends on how much women find us attractive. As well as having a steady relationship or wife. I’ve never been very good with women. I can get a first date a lot of the time but then the woman’s interest fizzles quickly. It made me feel very bad about myself and still does, but I need to give myself permission to be single. My worth is not in how attractive I am to women or having a GF/spouse. The dating game is also so complicated now especially for men that I may almost be better off being single in the long run.

The right relationship for you will take little to no work. I never compromise myself. And there are the men .... I LOVE you but could you change a little and reassure me. BYE. I was a wild ass girl. And then I got married to a wild ass guy. Our friends told us we were perfect together because we were so difficult. We didn't have filters. Don't ask if you don't wanna know. Cause we stayed true to ourselves. And not needy at all. So he died young (don't smoke) and that sucked. But when he got diagnosed the first thing he said to me was thank God I lived my life the way I wanted to. Before he died he said he was thankful he married a woman who didn't try to change him. I said uh, how long would you have stuck around if I did? A great laugh for us. True story. I find men to be so freaking needy. My therapist said it's a hunter thing. I tell them I'm not looking for anything serious and now they WANT me. I love this video. Don't ever make excuses to women. The right woman wants you JUST as you are. Just like Bridget Jones.

Henry Rollins said that he never got married because he never found anyone who was sweeter than his solitude. That’s just how some of us are wired. We are energized by being alone. We like doing shit we like doing when we feel like doing it. It’s a freedom you lose in being a couple. It just is. And maybe some people have a partner where they don’t miss that freedom and don’t feel trapped and that is awesome it’s just not me. I’ve tried but it’s just not. Haha same! I’ve been single for three years and also celibate and WOW the mental and emotional freedom I feel now is awesome. Sure I would love to have a life partner but I’m so at peace in this season of singleness I don’t even think about dating or relationships.. I’m so into my own self growth journey it just isn’t a big deal. If someone comes along that’s awesome but I’m also ok becoming a Golden girl with my best friends down in Miami somewhere lol I have other things in life to make me happy and I never used to be that person, just take time to focus on yourself and your healing, happiness journey! Thanks Tim for all your content! I feel like I found someone who gets my thought process in so many areas! Your transparency is greatly appreciated 🥰

Sounds like your friends have the get-a-“nurse-with-a-purse” mindset. So sad that most people are not in marriages/relationships in order to share their BEING (nature) with their spouses/mates, but for selfish reasons (…“What have you done for me lately?”). Life is so unpredictable…what if the spouse (nurse with purse) becomes very ill or dies? Is the man to immediately go out on the prowl for another NWP? Glad to hear that you have not been brainwashed by the masses. Wishing you a very good and long life, filled with peace and happiness! And strength and good fortune and true friends when life brings lemons (challenges)…as we all have them, just as we are sure to have more sunshine and rain. Cheers! 💫

A relationship to me is nothing short of inviting a potential liability and risk to what I have already created. An established relationship can be ended with just one emotion. I also can't invite someone into my life who faces very little to no consequence to their actions, that is asking for trouble. Then I have the ultimate kicker, I have a healthy relationship with my daughter and her mother and I already know that that is a big no no regarding potential partners. I've already been told that my relationship with my kids mother is an issue as their is no conflict. When someone expects conflict I have to quickly move them out of my life. All in all, I'd never dream of risking everything I've achieved in life to be destroyed by a woman an their ridiculous excuses for bad behaviour. Not on my watch.

I totally agree with this especially in 2023. The reality is there’s a lot to be desired dating men in this generation, There’s a lack of truly masculine men left. Nobody has patience. Nobody wants to love you unconditionally there are always conditions The idea of dating is exhausting. I have no use for it. I am perfectly happy and whole by myself. And what’s not saying I can do bad all by myself I have no use for a man using me for sex. Taking up all the space in my house. Never doing a damn thing around the house. And bitching because they have to pay for things. No thank you You can keep that.

Dating is not for everyone. Some people are actually hermits and need to be on an Island with the wind, water and the air. And if they have the sense of a grain of sand they can talk to the sea creatures 😊 and they would be fine.

I think its about getting a really strong sense of yourself and letting that unravel and decide what do do as you build yourself into the person you want to be not what someone else wants you to be. Because doing it “to get” -that keeps one busy but not satisfying.

I thought I wanted a relationship so I worked on myself for a long time, trying to be a good potential partner. I ended up with a covert narcissist who completely effed up my brain and emotions. I turned really cold and angry. It felt like a sick joke and I knew after that that I would NEVER be the same. It was the last straw in a long line of bad relationships. I simply don't have the energy to invest in someone who will most likely lie, cheat or steal from me. These days, I consider myself very blessed though. I am a hetero female and live with a gay man who I actually used to date before he was gay. He's very attentive and caring and takes good care of me. I don't have to worry about romantic emotions or him wanting me physically. I have companionship without all the drama. To summarize, I'm completely content to never be in a relationship again and I'm happy about it.

I still date but serious relationships are out of the question. Whenever I get a "girlfriend" it seems like I am automatically obligated to do the same things for her as if she were my wife, and if I fail or refuse to do certain things, I am not a real man. Women have guilt and shamed me right out of the relationship game. I got my own crap to fix and my own bills to pay. When I do date, I am already providing more for her than she is for me. I tell all the woman I chill with that I've always been better off alone and if she's willing to be with me she's probably better off alone as well.

I agree brother, you should never reflect your self worth on the fact that you are not with another. i have been alone . for over two years and i am fine. i have rediscovered, things i used to find inportant and lasting, since i have been alone, we are given tyme in life to reboot and build characteristics that are key to rediscovering self identification. we are the same in our spirits that never changes .with all the trials endured sometimes this is a necessary in your journey, remembering who we are and strive ro become the best of who you will be tomorrow ... stay strong and endure, Step out in faith and embrace your deestiny.
