Personally Tim I thought using the door skin for the box bottoms was pretty clever and the “CNC” lids worked well too. Another inspired and inspiring build.

Doug Lidz thanks! Those doors are a pet project. They are the first thing in the dumpster every time someone remodels a house. I'm always looking for good uses for them to keep them out of the landfill.

Tim, you're alright man! I just found your channel from Scott Turner, whom I just found because I like making multi-medium indoor/outdoor furniture and outdoor kitchens and living spaces. kind of more like BBQ's and smokers from all over the world. believe it or not I used to play Bass in a hair metal band in the 80's... I sucked, so I became a bodyguard... hah!

I wonder if you could've made those checkers with a plug cutter faster? Maybe the cnc isn't always the easiest
@timsway6 жыл бұрын
agreed CNC is not always easiest or fastest. I could have made them on a lathe, with a hole saw, plug cutter, just sliced a broom handle, etc., but they wouldn't be monogramed yet. I want to learn CNC (especially 3d carving) and get better at it, so sometimes the path of most resistance is the one with the most learning opportunities. If I stay within my comfort zone I'll never grow out of it.

I know you burn dead tree carcasses for heat in the winter months and I’ve also had shops in the past where that was my heating option. I’m curious to know why you would turn down an option for an actual heater in your shop other then that space heater. Unless I’m missing some part of the equation which I sure I am I know when I had my unheated shop I would have killed for an actual full size heat option instead of localized heat. A wood burner can run you out it gets so hot I know but takes awhile and can’t be set to turn on safely..lol without your assistance. Inquiring minds 😊😉
@timsway6 жыл бұрын
the main reason I turned it down is it required a separate 220v line which would have cost me a couple hundred dollars in copper to run the line from the breaker panel. I also am already pushing the limits of the limited electrical service running to my ancient barn already, so...

Great build, but in video the chess set looks a bit chaotic, maybe the chess pieces are a little too big for that checkerboard? I'm guessing it
@timsway6 жыл бұрын
Roberto Clemente yes. I ended up making a proper, real wood board for it. The scale was all off. Thanks!

@timsway6 жыл бұрын
haha! Jimmy gave me a rusty one that doesn't belong to or slide well with this tablesaw and I have another from my portable table saw that also doesn't slide well.

Why do you have blue painters tape on your table saw?
@timsway6 жыл бұрын
Sonny Pittman my zero-clearance plate has seen better days and needs replacing. The tape was a quick fix for cutting some thin strips.
@kitchenscience3246 жыл бұрын
tim sway, thanks for the quick response. Mine’s a bit out of sorts too. I’m going to try the blue tape trick. Happy Holidays
