Great detail about the process of selecting and handling canes to wrap onto wire!

That's interesting that you're using Cane Pruning for grapevines that will be used for wine grapes. Sometimes, I think teachers just love to confuse me. I keep hearing, Spur Pruning is used for wine grapes.

Spur pruning is cheaper and faster, but cane allows better canopy control (no blind buds) a slightly higher and more evenly ripening crop. Even if you spur prune, your going to need to replace the cordon every 5-7 years. Guess what kind of pruning you’ll be doing then?

Can this method be applied to table grape plants?

Yes, you can use this method...I have table grapevines and prune them this way.

Nice video on cane pruning. Were these vines originally spur pruned then converted to cane pruned? Just wondering because of the large old cut on the main trunk.

@@FarmLearningTim thankyou. Yes I'm slowly converting some of ours to cane pruned for the same reason. The old vines with old spurs were problematic. Seeing good results with 18 year old tempranillo and malbec vines at this time. Perhaps you could do a video on how to convert from spur to cane pruned...

They push plenty of replacements. And they are vines. Not trees.
