Nice demo. Thanks for that. I very much admire well executed loose impressionism like this, however I find it hard to shake slavish realism myself. I shall persevere. Q. How does it work that the figure in the foreground is backlit following the direction of light fall on the buildings and the figures in the background are not backlit? It doesn't look wrong but it seems it should. Re sound suggestion: I've been watched this demo with some Mozart "study music" playing in another window. Is good.

... Nice art as usual. But what is d reason to make the 3 windows Cerulean blue @ 53 min ? Any specific cause ? Otherwise simply superlative Demo !! I find an artist of TW's stature, taking much time ... sometimes in dilemma... not talking at all ... to go for d right colour mix -- while going for dark shadows on the Front building, using varieties of warm RED shadow colours ! Ultimately made the perfect mix of colours, that spoke for the success. Seeing it repeatedly to understand d marvel happening at ur hand! Regards, Abhijit B.

Excellent demo. I am afraid of colours. They just do not register in my mind. Especially the mixtures to get the various darks and lights and values. That seems to be the biggest obstacle in me from doing a good loose landscape. Let me have a few tips to get over this problem. Thanks very much

Having watched all of your available videos online, i have just one comment. As a beginner, The pencil drawing part I can do, but selecting paint color is where the lack of experience really hits home. Knowing the final effect of "wash over wash" is purely experience based so a bit more detail would be great. As a start, I fully intend to pull from the videos paint selection for different areas, especially with Shadow, dark areas, as well as extreme backgrounds. It is difficult to determine your color selections from the videos, when you quickly stick the brush in the paint, sometimes more then one color. Is there an "you tube" video or yours that covers your preferences for paint, that I have not found? On future videos please cover paint colors before you start, and identify them during the painting process as you select. That would be just great!!! Hope you read this, because at 77, my need is NOW!!
@TimWilmot8 жыл бұрын
Thank you John. No video yet which goes into colours. You have many painting years ahead of you!
@johnw.couvillonsr5938 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I did some searching through all of your videos and found answers to many of my questions. Your video work ( webcam, etc, running narative) are excellant, Clear and focused! One question - You always start out with a dry paper. No pre-wetting before tapeing down. Is this how you do every painting? Tim, I am 77 so my "many painting years" may be a few less then most!
@dchristian6009 жыл бұрын
Tim, Your technique is quite brilliant , All I can say is you seem to be a tad quiet, I feel I need to hear more narrative, of what is really going on, and add your mind thoughts of composition of whats important, etc...etc
