Thank you very good video please can you do a video on recycling candles where the wick has burnt out
@missmegan36942 жыл бұрын
Just wanted to say thank you! Using foil around the candles totally works - it keeps them from cooling off too quickly and thus forming sinkholes near the wick. I will also add this idea: be sure to use the shiny side of the tin foil against the surface of the candle. This will do an even better job of maintaining the candle's warmth for a longer period of time. You may have already mentioned this, but if you did, I missed it. :) I'm also glad that you mentioned the proper temperatures for adding the fragrance oil and for pouring - that's helpful for newbies, too, because it makes a big difference. Anyway, thanks again!

I tested out this method because I've been frustrated by all the uneven surfaces I've been getting with the 464 wax. I wrapped the vessels in foil and put them in the roasting pan and covered it, and it worked! So happy for having such an easy solution to a vexing problem. Many thanks!

@@justbeingme-83 Once I pour my wax into the container, I leave the griddle on the warm setting for about 10 minutes. Then i turn it off. I leave my candles setting on the griddle until they are completely solid. I also will turn the griddle back on for 5 seconds and then turn it off, if the metal gets cold while i leave the candles setting there. I will do that a couple of times to keep the metal slightly warm.. You just don't want the candles to cool too quickly.

I know for me this is something I’m so passionate about and want to do this with my daughter & I love making others happy & something about candles is so beautiful to me. Wow, I have to tell you, I am extremely impressed! I too use Candle Science but I stopped making candles about a year ago (for a few reasons) and thought I would start making them again since I have thousands of dollars in scents, wicks, jars, etc. It is so funny, I have nearly the same equipment that you do, LOL! I assume the reason for the foil is to help the jar maintain a certain level of warmth which is what contributes greatly to the finished (flawless) candle? This video was excellent, thank you so, so much! You've inspired me to start again. 😊👍

@josephagan72784 жыл бұрын
The foil helps to retain the heat so the candle can cool slower and more evenly which helps with proper adhesion! When the wax cools too quickly, it pulls super hard toward the center, causing sinkholes and poor adhesion. This method completely fixes that 😊

Thanks for this video! I have 2 doubths, why you use the metal paper around the jars? And why you put heat on the top of the candle? Thanks☺
@glasscitycandlecompany51264 жыл бұрын
The tin-foil is used to insulate the vessel in order to slow down the cooling process. When the wax cools, it shrinks and grabs toward the center. When wax cools quickly, this process is exaggerated, leading to deep pockets of air (sinkholes). By slowing down the cooling process, you ensure that the wax has proper time to adhere to the inside of the vessel, and not shrink as dramatically, which helps prevent sinkholes! I heat the top of the candle to further prevent sink holes, as sinkholes are caused by uneven cooling, and if the top solidifies before everything else it can hide these problems. It also aids in removing any air bubbles that have risen out of the wax as it cools, which also helps with preventing sinkholes. Hope this helps!
