Great lesson, thanks! Beautiful Taylor guitar, too. I struggle with that Gmaj7 chord because I have short fingers and it's difficult to stretch that far.

In the chorus you have two dashes (--) every third strum, usually indicating a pause, unlike the verse which is one dash (-) throughout the entire strumming sequence, which would indicate no pauses in your strumming. But, it sounds like you're playing the same rhythm in the verse and chorus, are you not? is it because of the number 10 having two digits that you did this? If so it introduces a bit of confusion because dashes in tabulation are not just for separation, they indicate musical timing.
@jkehew1 Жыл бұрын
Hi Brett, thanks for watching! I'm happy to clarify. Those dashes are really supposed to be solid lines representing the guitar strings (the TAB method of notating guitar music.) The dashes do NOT represent any sort of pause. I hope that helps! Please check out my other learning material at my website www.song-bike.com. PDFs, books, e-books & videos!

@@jkehew1 Thanks so much for the reply and the easy to understand lesson for this song. I was quikly able to jump into the song due to your lesson. I am not sure if your response to my question is strictly about the way you used the spacing or you're making a universal statement but in the opinion of many different websites including Fender, spacing in tab (usually created by dashes) indicate rhythm, though not perfectly. I understand that there is no universally accepted tab structure but i thought it important to note that more dashes for a lot of people does communicate differences in timing.

what about the bridge? When i say im spinning round ...thanks ;)
@jkehew14 жыл бұрын
Hi, nfn! I'm so sorry I left that out ! It's a Gmaj7 going to a Cmaj7. The Gmaj7 is the same one we've been doing, based on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th frets. But after watching a video of America performing the song live, it looks like the Cmaj7 is fingered as follows: --3---index---- --5---pinky---- --4---middle-- --5---ring------ ------------------- ------------------- Hope that helps! By the way, I wrote an e-book that goes along with the DCG Trick video: www.fatfreecartpro.com/i/yuut?card And I have a free follow-up video that goes along with the DCG Trick on the homepage of my website: www.song-bike.com And I have 2 more e-books written for beginners: www.fatfreecartpro.com/i/z117?card www.fatfreecartpro.com/i/z6ys?card My KZbin channel is here: kzbin.info Stay healthy and musical, Jonathan
