@@tangledfish Absolutely. It's a rare thing to take an iconic song and rearrange it to make it better. Help is one such example. The other two for me are Johnny Cash's Hurt and Kasey Chambers' Lose Yourself.

Fun fact. One of John Farnham's long time backing singers, Venetta Fields, was also in The Ikettes who performed with Ike & Tina Turner in the 60s.

John Farnham's backing vocalist, Venetta Field was an Ikette (backing vocalist/dancer) for Ike and Tina Turner for five years. Don't under-estimate the legendary status of Tina Turner all over the world. She may be under-appreciated in the U.S. but the rest of the world knows she's a Goddess, and one of a kind entertainer.

We in Australia love Tina Turner. It's a compliment to John that she used his arrangement note for note. She knew of John through her manager Rodger Davies (an Australian). She was also a huge fan of John's, but as fine vocalist, why wouldn't she be? She also sang with Barnesy. Will the circle be unbroken.

Love Tina, and love this obvious tribute to John Farnham. Only Tina could belt out a version of Help like him. But Farnsey's epic version is still my favorite, he's untouchable. Tina's fabulous voice and energy are legendary. She's such an amazing performer, simply sensational.💜

Tina Turner is and always has been one of my all-time favorite singers . Think about it. There’s nobody who really does sound like her. You hear her, you know that it’s her for sure. The first phrase. She is unique and distinct. Her charisma is distinct, her movements on stage are distinct. Her looks. Everything about her. She’s simply the best.

Love that you got to see this, I love this as much as John's overall reimagining and overhaul of the entire song. Tina loved his rendition, and I can hear enough difference in her own performance that I can see this as her own take yet again on the Beatles classic

Tina's manager Roger Davies, an Australian who was no doubt aware of Farnham's version and no doubt suggested it for her. Or maybe it was John's backup singer Venetta Fields, who was originally an Ikette, passed it on to Tina? Doesn't matter really, just playing detective here haha

Tina is the real deal...Beyonce doesn't do anything for me. Tina is the Queen...along with Etta and Ester Phillips. But yes You can hear John's voice through this...and that's unusual considering we're talking about the one and only Tina.

It was on John's 1980 album "Uncovered". Tina's "Private Dancer" was released in 1984.
