Yes her mother was not trustworthy, was a covert narcissists, fake, and two faced. She faked like she cared her daughter got abused but she didn’t raise Tina. Tina said she knew she had to become hyper independent because her mother was emotionally neglectful even after the success Tina would send her money but she still was jealous. Her mother didn’t want to have her which was revealed to Tina through a psychic. Her mother still was bestfriends with ike to but these fans buy into the whole “ Tina mother told her she didn’t like ike”; her mother probably said that to save face to Tina and lied to her but she was a jealous witch mother.

Let's not be so quick to blame tina's mom. Tina's mother was still part of generations that were too close to the abuses of slavery and colonialism and the generational emotional spiritual and mental anguish that comes along with this.. this type of success could not be known to most blacks and was quite other worldy. if u couple that fact with any type of typical nagging or trifling mother who maybe in her own but still rather insuffcient way of loving tina, she will come across trifling or unfit. we see in the movie that tina's mom was in her life during her successes, but my goodness, she was still country and likely not super worldly. given the fact that she old old school country and the circumstances surrounding the neglect, we cannot expect tina to have come from an illustrious childhood with demonstrative parenting. with forgiveness in her heart tina made the best of the relationship with her mom. it doesn't seem that her mother was at her core a hateful person. just rather trifling, and this is forgivable. it's not like she had precious' mom.

Justcallme Justice the movie is only loosely based on Tina's book. A lot of scenes were fabricated and a lot of info was left out. Tina had a baby at 18 by a member in Ike's band. Ike did not pay her mom. He took her in when her mom put her out. The rape scene and the cake scene never happened. When Ike and Tina moved to California, Tina's mom moved in his home in St Louis. Tina's sister took care of their kids while they were on the road. She also worked for them and lived in one of Ike's places.

I read the book as well, long before the movie came out. The movie is compressed, of course for time sake. Then the creative expression. But, most of these things did happen even if not necessarily as depicted in the movie. For instance, Ike did force Tina to eat cake. Though they were in a car together, not in a restaurant with company.

It means it is definitely narcissistic grabing and it means that the person (like TINA) should keep away from them, because this is incurable and such people destroy others. I wish TINA knew about it earlier in her life - than it could safe her her suffering...

@@magorzatamargaret294 it was NOT narcissist anything. Please stop taking these words y’all made cliché, and then applied it to everyone and everything. If you know ANYTHiNG about the blk women in that time frame….they were treated like property, hit by their spouse and had better not let one household ball fall to the ground. Zelma stayed in physical altercations with Floyd Bullock, and when she had enough she packed to leave…but found out she was pregnant with Anna Mae. She resented that baby in the womb, cuz she had to stay….but ended up running off anyway. I didn’t understand why my own mama and I NEVER got along, until I learned she couldn’t give me what she herself didn’t possess. I learned my great grandma of South Carolina found out her husband was married to 3 women at the same time, and jailed for it. She up and moved to Maryland and left my grandma behind, taking the other 3. My grandma ran away at 13 and hitchhiked to Maryland to live with her mother. I learned that when I asked my aunts why none of them liked hugging their kids and saying “I love you”. My mom and aunts were harsh, but not on purpose…. My cousins and I vowed we would change the narrative. Let go of the word Narcissist. It doesn’t fit that time. Look at Tina. She ended up in the same type of volatile marriage, and she also abandoned her stepsons. History repeated.

It's amazing to think Tina never felt her mother wanted or loved her. Even in her last days while visiting her, Tina told Oprah how rude she was to her and never would give her credit. Sad really....
@luciverdad48344 жыл бұрын
It's also sad that Tina has great-grandchild she has never met. Her adopted son said she doesn't communicate with her family. You'd think that for Tina to have never felt loved by her own mother she'd have a bond with her kin. Her firstborn Craig was the only family member at her wedding and he committed suicide in 2018.

Luci nln Hurt people hurt people. Also, we don’t know their familial situation and it’s toxic to expect everyone to keep in touch with their family just because they’re related. Who knows what’s going on behind closed doors!? Not everyone who’s blood is your family.

@@luciverdad4834 Maybe Tina only felt loyalty towards her biological sons. Maybe, her adoptive sons were part of the life she didn't want to remember. It's cold-hearted, but some people are like that, and we really don't know the details behind Tina cutting everyone off. And Tina has a son that in her band, and the son that passed, had videos on Facebook, with his mother, his step-father, and spending time alone at her house. His cousin, also has videos and pictures of Tina, with Tina. Maybe Tina just cut off the family that wasn't hers biologically. Tina mentions that she spoke to her son before his death, and he indirectly told her, he was leaving. Tina has said the reason she never retired, was because she wanted to leave something for her family. Pretty sure they are taken care of, just not discussing it with folks.

@@MickeyDs14 Something is wrong when you don't even have a relationship with your grandchildren. Only one person from Tina's family was at her wedding. Everybody else can't be the problem.

It's interesting what different ppl pick up on. From the comments, it seems a lot of ppl focused on the native American comment in this video. That didnt even register with me. I kept thinking how beautiful they were and how awesome that they all sound alike. Lol

Because black people, especially famous ones, need to stop this crap. It gives credence to the idea that we have to be "something else" to be good.

blaque faerie That’s a prejudice that YOU have. In case you forgot, blacks were not told their history AT ALL until recently. The Caribbean was long called the West Indies. Many “West Indian” slaves were brought onto United States plantations. This led many blacks AND whites to mix this up with the Indians we now call “native Americans”. It isn’t always about self-hate. It’s about misinformation.

Wow that's funny: my mom asked me that same question! Thank God I chose to be a registered nurse instead of a singer. (I'm the one in my family who didn't get a perfectly pitched singing voice.) living. Rest peacefully Mrs. Turner. Thank you for blessing the world with your voice, your class, your strength, and most of all-HOPE to people who feel like they have to stay even if it costs the ultimate price.
