i love rust effect when its not too much and not in the wrong climate. i feel to many use it in the dry desert or where its constantly frozen, that does not logicly work. for example on a planet thats always below 0 degrees when will the metal ever have the chance to get wet? and come across salt? or the dry desert sure it might rain for a day or two but thats not enough time to rust before its dry as sand again. i think people need to think about the climate they are making too not just make it

I get what you're saying, but it really does come down to whether you're going for realism or stylised terrain. Either way, you are right, less is more👍

always always round the bizness side of the sponge. that eliminats the 'stamp effect' or if you insist on not rounding the sponge, make a U with the sponge and apply the paint with the bottom of the U. hint the rounded edge.
