I bought the bow cutter also for straight lines and can't figure the thing out. Haven't played with it much but these things r great. I have 4 of them. The Foam factory kit is awesome for bending the wire to get desert scenes, etc. Great Job!

The foam used here is high density insulation foam. It is mainly used on construction and comes in fairly large sheets. If you have a construction site nearby, ask the owners or workers for any left over foam they are willing to part with. Most of the stuff they have left over will be too small for them to use and they might be willing to part with it. The sheets come in 2 by 8 foot for the 1 inch thick and 4 by 8 foot for the 2 inch thick. They come in three main colours, pink, white and blue. Pink seems to be the cheapest and the highest density. Blue is the most expensive and not as dense as pink. White foam is the cheapest and the least dense but more dense than normal packing foam. You can buy all these from any hardware store that has a section for them.

I buy the scraps left over at Home Depot, pieces with broken corners ect they do not usually sell.. you can get significant discounts if you tell them you will buy it and save them throwing it in the garbage.. i have got 75% off sheets doing this.

It is home insulation foam. I have seen it in pink and blue at home improvement stores. Usually sold in 4' x 8' sections. However, I have seen smaller pieces at HomeDepot in the insulation area, being sold at "Craft Panels".

If you used spray adhesive for the insulation layers.... does the foam cutter cut through that glue?

Hi I loved this very informative video and I subscribed to your youtube channel. However I do have a suggestion to make for future videos: the background music at times is as load as your voice and does nothing to help hear what you say. Thanks.

Where do you purchase your Pink Foam from? It seems like the prices have gone crazy with it lately.

If you are in North America, you can purchase XPS (insulation) foam at any box hardware store like Lowes, Orchard Supply, Ace Hardware, Home Depot. If not those, then you can always check contractor supply stores too... but you usually need a contractor's license to purchase from them. The best suggestion, may be to find a construction site and speak with its foreman about picking up any loose scraps they may generate. Oftentimes, you can get that stuff for free.

3M Adhesive Spray 77. Practically welds foam together. Spray both surfaces, and be sure its in position before you place it, because once its touched, its is never coming up again!

May I ask what type of foam you use every type of packing foam I seem to come across is really bubbly and terrible for terrain making :(
@AlexBabcock-hw9iz
@AlexBabcock-hw9iz 7 жыл бұрын
The packing foam is made up with small pellets but if you cover with some silicone caulk it makes it better to paint and use as terrain.
