I can’t wait to see how it does in wood, it definitely sounds better, you’re getting closer, needs something, but not sure what it is, maybe a little larger on the end of the pipe instead of necking it down like it is.

Tinman watching you beat the curve on Macs prompted me to buy a 10-10. I have big saws well enough. Might try a lil red barn p/c to port on. Grand old workhorse you tinkered there... Rock on.

I spent all day watching every video on the Mac. My family has been cutting for over 70 years around the place I live. I have always like finding old saws, doesn't matter the shape, I rat holed them away. Recently my cousin and I had the opportunity to set up a shop to play in. We did our first teardown on a Stihl ms310 last week that was cold seized and I have been researching what brand of top end kit to go with. I'm leaning towards the Meteor. But a do have quite a few saws I've collected I want to get running. I like the older ones much better than the new ones. My Stihl ms250 is my newest and because of the problems I've had with it, will probably be the last new I ever buy. The ones I am going to get running that need small parts like ignition and covers are Jonsered 2031, 2077, 2083, 2094. Stihl 08 S, 056 AV, 031. Mac saws I have a few but never paid attention to what they are. Now that I know what you are playing with I'm going to dig through the 55 gallon barrel of Mack parts I have collected and see if there's and parts you can use.

Nice pipe, Tinman! You don't have to excuse for your welding! This thin Material with an mma /stickwelder (and depending to the sound an AC-Maschine I guess) is not easy! You're doing well!

You essentially made a short header chamber. It's awesome. From my two stroke scooter tuning experiments years ago, I came to find that the length of the header really affects where the torque curve starts. Too long of a header and the torque comes in way too high in rpms. As soon as I saw the finished pipe I knew you probably got it right where you wanted it. Great welds on that pipe, if you can weld those pipes like you are doing with that stick welder you can weld anything!!! Superb job my friend! 👍👍👍

Nice job with just a stick Tinman, for years that’s all I had and was able to weld some really thin stuff with practice and patience. Stick machines are really low overhead too, no gas or extremely spendy filler metal and consumables. I will say though, there is nothing like welding in shorts and flip flops due to no sparks with Tig.

Trying to remember the old Mr. Mac-attack’s research... 70-80cc engine was 3 1/2” and 51/2” pipe length...straight pipe that would create a pulling effect with the exhaust resonating due to the sound waves....

What would be cool is utilizing the original muffler side cylinder mount bolt holes and making a nameplate with buckin billy ray on it 👌 I personally would be making them a extra side mounting point too. its possible it could be dropped on its side or hung up on something. Can't wait to see her ran in and ripping great work Tinman 💪

There's 2 things that I've seen recently that are probably worth you having a look at. The welding style colloquially called "Texas tig" works brilliant for welling on thin section pipe when all you have is a stick welder. It also allows you to fill gaps that you never could normally. The other thing is a brilliant tool. A needle scaler/descaler strips welding slag off something amazing.

Hi Tinman, you are doing really well with that stick welder on that exhaust tube. But if you get another welder don't get a MIG get a TIG. A TIG has much better control for thin metal like tubes and sheetmetal. It is a little bit like OXY welding feeding the filler rod by hand but with the power of electric. Alot of people buy MIGs because everyone else has got one but really they are not that good for one off work like you are doing. MIG was invented for production work where manually feeding the filler wire would be a pain, the big rolls of MIG wire last a long time also removing the need for changing filler wire during a production run. But that is not a problem on the bench making one off things. Believe me you need a tig, you will never look back.

@johnsonlong12723 жыл бұрын
Congrats TinMan on the sub numbers! Question for you this is just for fun I have a curbside throw away weed eater engine 20 cc's I have had it running now and put a timing wheel on it. Here are my numbers> .025 squish exhaust 110 degrees Transfers 135 degrees Intake 60 degrees So that's what 25° blowdown ----------------------------------------------- Obviously I'm going to clean up the ports and probably widen them out. Also I will build a pipe borla exhaust to rid myself of the ridiculous EPA muffler it has on it in the name of science of course lol. This is piston ported no reeds and just for fun I have a lot of these to play with they came to me as curbside junk I picked up to practice on. I would greatly appreciate it if you would give me some safe mild side go fast numbers and then some more radical numbers. remember if she grenades I'm out nothing other than time of porting maybe some worn out bits. Maybe I should have made a pre video of stock and put my tack on it to see what the RPMs were stock. But I have already tore it down to Port it. So maybe on the next one I make a stock running video and check RPMs. My end goal here is to Port power saws. But I figured why not learn a little on some throwaway weed eaters.
