Kria Shawl - full crochet tutorial

In this crochet tutorial I show you from start to finish how to make my Kría Shawl, tassels and all! The Kría is a super fun and easy V-stitch crochet shawl that makes for a perfect easy breeze summer project! Here I work it in a cotton Whirl from Scheepjes, so the beautiful color fade rolls out all on its own and you can just happily crochet along without a care in the world!

I dont leave alot of comments but as I was preparing to make this shawl for the 4th time!!! Lol. I had to stop and just say how much I love this pattern. I first made it for myself using scrap yarn. Then I made one for my mother for Christmas and then for my daughter for Christmas with a twist (I added in some front post doubles) and now I am making one for my cousin (the original pattern). This is truly a no fuss pattern and once u get going it just takes off. So I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to give such a beautiful gift to those I love! ❤

Glad you're settled and back with us! When I'm making more than 1 tassels for a project , I count the number of winds of yarn that I use so they come out the same thickness. Love the colour fade on this shawl!

I’m really enjoying this pattern! My yarn is fingering weight and dark in color so with this pattern I don’t have to worry about counting stitches and that makes it extremely relaxing. I also do it on my breaks at work bc my job is very stressful. I can’t thank you enough ❤

I do two loops in my magic loop. When you pull it tight it means the yarn is going around twice and is much more secure. I still weave in the end a bit though, just to be sure. Love this pattern. I'm going out to look for lovely variegated cakes to make one of these.

Great to see you, Tinna. I have started my first kria and am on row 9. Whoop whoop! I am finding it helpful to mark my centre chain stitch on the Row 5 repeats with a stitch marker, maybe just until I get good at ‘reading’ that centre point. Then it’s easier to see precisely where my centre increase should go on the next row. I am LOVING the elgant simplicity of this design and seeing these wings unfold 🤗.

What a beautiful project! I can't wait to pick out some yarn to create one as well. I also have a suggestion re: threading beads on for the tassels at the end. You could use a big eye needle to get the beads of your choice on, and then transfer the yarn to a regular darning needle when you're ready to sew them to the shawl. I use the big eye needles a lot to create my jewelry.

I finally got to sit down and watch. Love this. Ive used V-stitch for many things in the past, but I love the color variation. Now if I could just get my hubby to understand what this type of yarn is. The past two times he went to town and surprised me with yarn they didn't have any so he brought me traditional variegated. It still made a beautiful rug but I'd love to go shopping when the store is stocked. Many ppl crochet around here and some are subscribed to you.
