Millions of people experience tinnitus in different degrees, some are louder than others. Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no actual external noise is present. While it is commonly referred to as “ringing in the ears,” tinnitus can manifest many different perceptions of sound, including buzzing, hissing, whistling, swooshing, and clicking. For some, it can lead to insomnia, difficulty with concentration, poor work or school performance, irritability, anxiety, and depression.
I will share some cutting edge research and nutrition so you can feel much better!

My tinnitus struck at four o'clock in the morning. I thought a jet had crashed in the back yard. I had my ears/hearing checked by a consultant - there was nothing wrong that he could see. For the next 2 and a half years I had a constant roaring like a jet engine in my right ear. On a couple of occasions, for days/weeks at a time, I also had it in my left ear. If I kept my finger pressed against the outside of my ear, it would go, also if I sang. I realised it was my brain, not my ear, that was faulty. I could only sleep if I had background noise going at the exact same decibel level of the tinnitus. I also realised that if I gave it too much attention, it would drive me mad. So I set about ignoring it as much as possible and being very confident that one day it would disappear. And one day, it did!

@@JH-td6ll It was quite by accident. I went on a carb free diet, which essentially cuts out the gluten. My doctor realized the connection. I have never looked back. So happy for you that you've finally found relief after 25 years. How long after doing the gluten-free diet did you realize your tinnitus was gone?
@DebbieParke-oy9vp
@DebbieParke-oy9vp 2 ай бұрын
@@lenorlopez1776 It took a couple of months for it to go away. I think it would have been sooner had I realized how sensitive I am to gluten ( I am not celiac but I can not tolerate any gluten) and the fact that gluten is in so many food items under SO MANY different names, I finally got to the point that unless I know exactly what an ingredient is I do not eat it. If it is not labeled GF I will not eat it. I make a lot of my own food from simple ingredients so I know what I am eating. My hubby and I have separate jars of anything that might cause me cross contamination ( margarine, ( I use Becel-vegan) any jams that I make, mayo, mustard). Tinnitus is my first response to a gluten attack. Depending how bad, the migraine and vertigo follow. I do take vit D and different types of magnesium and have for a long time before going off gluten. I do understand when people think they are losing their mind. Try to follow the Blue Zone way of eating and read every label every time ( many companies change their ingredients slightly) and if you don't know exactly what an ingredient is, do not eat it. I hope this helps you. Ps. I also do not have dairy or nightshade veggies..

One day we arrived and emergency vehicles had responded to his home including police. I made inquiries and learnt that he had committed suicide in his basement with a firearm. It later came out through his wife that he had been suffering for years with the ringing caused by tinnitus and simply couldn't deal with it anymore. Very sad, seemed like such a nice fellow.

This doc is so great. I've tried everything literally forever to get rid of the tinnitus. Nothing works at all. However one thing I did notice just by mistake. I had bought one of those noise cancelling headsets to use since I travel on planes alot. Guess what...THAT actually silences the noise in your ear when you wear it! And no you actually dont need the music playing either. You simply put it on, flip the cancelling switch...and your ears are silent. No idea why it works. But it does so if you need to have a break once in a while get yourself a set!
@TheW83
@TheW83 2 ай бұрын
What?? Are you suggesting noise cancelling headsets stops your tinnitus?? That just means you have sound induced tinnitus that only gets triggered when there is sound that your ears are misinterpreting. I have noise cancelling headphones and it's like a volume boost for tinnitus because it cuts out all the background noise so that all I can hear is the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

This might sound crazy but anyone who got this after getting covid or any other side effects that they are calling covid long haulers have snake venom in there body thats what's causing this and me myself and many others took rugby nicotine patches 7mg for 7 days and all side effects went away. No you don't get addicted to the nicotine patch. Its the chemicals they spray on the tobacco leaves that cause the addiction not the actual nicotine itself. Nicotine is the antidote for snake venom. Covid was a bio weapon released on us.

Taurine and green noise helped me to go from 4 to 5 hrs sleep a night to 6 to 8 hrs a night. This has been a great improvement in my life. 12 years of tinnitus and occasional vertigo that has landed me in a hospital one time. When tinnitus gets unbearable i go into vertigo and spike a fever. The epley maneuver takes care of the vertigo. And anti-vert medication routine daily will stabilize me and lower tinnitus. It never goes away. Hearing aides help to decipher conversation from tinnitus but having them turned up high to try to hear above the tinnitus is a challenge with ptsd and hearing aids turned up loud sudden loud noises can almost make you jump out of your skin. The fight and flight network in our nervous system can keep us suffering in a anxious state of mind.😮

Wow! Another thing I learned last week about our Vegas nerve; A friend of mine was in the hospital. The nurse assisted her in using the bedside toilet. I was outside the room. The nurse came out and said it was OK for me to back in the room. I opened the curtain my friend had slumped over the bed and passed out. Her heart rate fell to 20 bpm. I thought she was dying. By now she is stiff and staring straight ahead with no response. Doctors checked for stroke and seizures. Long story, they say when you bear down to go to the bathroom it can affect your Vegas nerve and you pass out! If you push down to use the bathroom for either bathroom 1 or 2 it’s a possibility you can pass out! Be safe!

Thanks for the video Doc. I've been a musician my whole life and have severe tinnitus in my left ear and moderate in the right ear. I exercise, eat well, and supplement judiciously, including vitamin D with K2 and it has made 0 zero difference for me. I realize that there's no silver bullet for this condition, unfortunately. Supplementation might work for some. So again, I appreciate the video and hope it helps people suffering with tinnitus. But for me the only thing that kept me from driving my car over the nearest cliff to escape the incessant ringing, was incorporating breath work and habituation into my life. These two things have radically changed my mindset and made the quality of my life with this condition 100 fold better. Breath work calms me down. And habituation, which is the practice of focused attention on the phantom sound, has made living with the condition not just bearable, but has allowed me to thrive in this state. It sounds counterintuitive, since as sufferers of tinnitus, our first impulse is to try to escape the continuous sound. Ironically, it's the frustration and panic of not being able to escape it that is exacerbated by this behavior. Conversely, focusing on the sound and consciously slowing down my breathing has changed the game for me. Doing this exercise has led to me not only being able to accept my condition, but has allowed me to develop a state of mind where I don't even notice it, unless I intentionally think about it. This has worked for many people who haven't been able to get relief through supplementation or other treatments. I hope my comment will help those who haven't gotten relief from other treatments. Thanks again Doc.

@ChadPhillipsMusic
@ChadPhillipsMusic 2 ай бұрын
@@zarazara5109 Yep. I get it. It can be maddening. Mine never stops either. But mine doesn't change pitch or anything. It's a constant pitch, tho the volume can sometimes increase or decrease. Anyway, I can't tell you what to do. All I can do is tell you what I did. The rest is up to you. To get started, some explanation is in order: Habituation is the practice of focused attention on the sound itself. I combined this with breath work. What I would do is lie down in a comfortable, calming setting. You can use aromatherapy too if you want. Basically anything that creates a calming setting. You can also use sound. So white noise machines are very helpful for this purpose, as they not only have white noise, but ocean, rain, gentle wind, and other calming background sounds. Next, close your eyes and focus your attention on the phantom sound in your head. Really listen to it. If the background noise from your white noise machine distracts you from this, then turn it off. As you're focusing on the tinnitus sound, take deep slow breaths, in.....and out. The idea is to control your breathing and slow down. You can combine the breathing with a slow 10 count on the exhale if you want to. Repeat this process while focusing on the sound in your head for as long as you like. This is a practice that you do every day. It takes time and patience. You will slowly accept your condition instead of fighting it. At the same time, you will habituate with your condition. Basically, you condition yourself to not notice it (the sound), unless you're consciously thinking about it. The practice teaches you to have a calm response as opposed to a panicked one. It teaches you to let go, stop fighting, stop panicking, and release your anxiety about your condition. Another thing I do is cold therapy, which can involve cold immersion or cold showers to reduce systemic inflammation in the body.

Yes, please also check your diet. It helped me when I went off of sugar and gluten. Apparently due to some inflammation that I was struggling with. I also had a buildup of inflammation and fluid around my brain. Check with your doctor to see if having a lumbar tap will work. For some people, it helped them remove their tinnitus. Good luck, I know it could be hard.@jaeltheafricanteacher

It started for me in my left ear about 8 years ago when my tubes were clogged after a virus. Otitis media with effusion is a buildup of fluid behind the eardrum, sometimes called glue ear. It’s not an ear infection and doesn’t cause pain. The most prominent symptom is usually pressure and temporary hearing loss. Acute otitis media with effusion resolves on its own within days or weeks-unfortunately, mine lasted two months. I used Flonase daily, doctor recommended, and finally, out of the blue, the tubes cracked open. I’ve experienced tinnitus ever since. I ignore it and don’t notice the prominence until all is silent and in trying to fall asleep. I have taken 5,000 iu daily for the past several years-found out about five years ago that it most be taken with fats in stomach to absorb.

Your facet joint excersizes were the most relief since 2016. Avoiding onions and tomatoes also keeps it down for me. Taurine helped, l-tyrosine, st johns wart, each had some effect at some point. Focusing on the tinnitus also helped normalize it for me when it first started. There is one tinitus relief audio that works for me too.

The reality is that tinnitus has no cure.... No treatment, no supplement works...And since 36 years of suffering from tinnitus,I can now say that it is a cosmic sound 8:52 that god has made to reach to select lovely people...As such, unless and until, a curative remedy is discovered and formulated for tinnitus, those select people should spend time in their routine work ,including prayers to the God for his special gift and care ...I find this is the most effective way to accept the challanges those arrive from tinnitus ,to lead a normal life.. No way, I am undermining the efforts of Dr Mandell for making this video, which is more valuable for those who dont have tinnitus..

What are your thoughts on Vit D combined with Vit K to prevent calcium loss from the bones? Also I find when I have to up my daily dose of aspirin, the ringing gets louder. It's a very annoying/frustrating at times, interjection. So thanks for the advice and I'm giving a try, combining Vit D, (Vit K?) and Ginkgo Biloba.

Ok... I do NOT have Tinnitus but occasionally I WILL get ringing in my ears or other weird noises... just OCCASIONALLY. I will stop whatever it is I am doing and say quietly to my body "No, thank you." It immediately dissipates and then ceases altogether. Once or twice I have had to wait a few seconds (and I will repeat, more firmly; "NO, thank you!"). This has never failed to work for me but I have done this from the very beginning. I also do it with other aches and pains. We CAN talk to our bodies and direct them... but modern medicine would have you believe that you are a hapless victim! Don't believe it for one second! We are far more powerful than we have been conditioned to believe.

Someone please explain to me why we go to the doctor with these types of issues, the doctors do not explain to use anything. They don't explain anything, they just write a prescription or order a CT scan. Went to an ENT doctor because of this issue, they didn't even test my blood level to test my vitamin D level. I started taking vitamin D and guess what happened, major relief to almost no more on some days. Thank you for what you do Dr. Mandell and thanks for caring about what's important which is HEALING THE BODY!! HEALING!!!
