@@vigilantchristian6314 I began to have tinnitus after a traumatic brain injury when a semi truck rear ended me. It was two years ago. The ringing was very intrustive, I couldn't sleep. I had an MRI. I went to EENT and had hearing tests - it was awful. I began to put myself into ketosis and tried to heal my brain and nervous system with ketones- it was okay but didn't help much. Then I began to do some 72 hour fast. On my second three day fast, on the third day, my left ear suddenly stopped ringing. I continued LCHF diet and on my third 72 hour fast, on the second day, I woke up and the right ear was no longer 'singing". I continue to be LCHF and I continue to include some fasting in my lifestyle. I have kept that tinnitus away for over a year. The tinnitis was loud and horrible for over 12 months.

This woman said a whole lot of nothing that the average person with tinnitus has most likely figured out on their own. Of course music that you enjoy is going to make you feel better. You don't need a phd to tell you that. I suffer from tinnitus and music certainly helps me cope with it. IMO, this video was just a plug for her book.

I have a severe hearing problem. My auditory nerve was effected by childhood illness and high fevers. Now brain cells are dying in the sound processing region of the brain. Tinnitus accompanied my hearing loss as it increased. When I was in my fifties it was a soothing tinnitus, like ocean waves breaking on a beach, softly. Then it added murmuring. I developed vertigo, and ocular migraine. My ENT is an OTTO-Nero ENT and he did some more extensive tests. He referred me to a VEDA Certified therapist who helped me control my vertigo. Near the end of that training my Musical auditory hallucinations began. It started simply with one piano note, heard by my left ear, repeating every twelve seconds. Then two weeks later I heard a second note. Then one New Year’s Eve, at a party there was a big change…light jazz music and rock music was being played by a Video DJ. The indigenous band Redbone was playing Come and Get Your Love, then Santana was on, playing Black Magic Woman. After that I heard these two tunes softly merging and playing together. It made it more difficult to hear my murmuring and breaking waves, and by that time rolling trains had joined that tinnitus. Going home with my husband after the party, I realized that the music did not stop. It has continued for four and a half years. It has changed. It is not as good as it was that night. These hallucinations rain through childhood music, hymns and marching bands. It is on my left side. Covid time took away the live music. Ambient sounds trigger different music. Music is everywhere, and it is tiring. I cannot sleep without taking some medication and a magnesium supplement. Recently we returned from a trip from Canada to Spain, to France. The trip had three connecting flights. We left France at nine in the morning and arrived home at eleven PM. I think that was close to twenty hours of being awake. One would think sleep would not be a problem…but it was. My over-the-counter sleep med took two hours to kick in. My brain and neurological system runs the show. The deterioration of my ability to hear meaningfully has also had an effect on the music I hear. I listen to music, but it has to be blue-toothed through my hearing aids. I learned how to play a simple musical instrument, the ukulele, and loved singing along with myself. I wrote some songs too. Now I can no longer sing as I once did..my music of the mind kind of interferes with it. Other neurological issues arise from time to time. I have dark nystagmus, and when I wake up, visually some things I see outside can jerk about a bit. I see tree branches jerking. I hear those branches jerking, and I also feel it. My vertigo exercises help me control that. Habituation is the only thing that gets me to appear normal. I pull that off. And I really do think that we are what we pretend to be. Sometimes we need some supports. I do deep breathing and relaxing meditations. I watch some KZbin videos wearing my precious hearing aids and listen to singing bowls, and some skilled skilled sound therapy gong artists. Bluetooth has brought me to the sound vibration stage of habituation. Gongs create vibration that one can also feel..it does not have to be overwhelming noise. Since I have been listening to these sound therapists through my hearing aids my ocular migraines are practically gone I think. I still take the magnesium bisglycinate supplement for those. Some of the primitive musical groups that do throat singing and chanting are good to mesmerize me away from my boring repetitive musical hallucinations as well. My mind and my body, and perhaps my brain as well seem calmer and more in step with my own self. Tinnitus has a way of taking us away from our own self perhaps. Habituation brings us closer to the self state.

It’s more likely due to the increasing insulin resistance, as IR increases as women age and go through menopause. Insulin resistance at all ages can cause (or make worse) tinnitus, and given that about 93% of American adults are insulin resistant, tinnitus, and other chronic issues run rampant. Check out Dr. Ben Bikman for all things insulin. Also, check out Dr. Elizabeth Bright related to “menopausal” symptoms. Symptoms we attribute to menopause are often related to not eating enough animal protein and fat or eating too many carbs. For example, I had hot flashes initially. I stopped eating so many carbs and they went away completely within a week.

I am 67 and have had tinnitus all of my adult life. Most likely from target shooting without ear protection. I have what I consider a strange twist to my hearing where I also hear voices that are not there. Before you jump to conclusions, the voices I hear are similar to hearing a conversation someone is having in a nearby room, where you hear the sounds but they are just low enough where you cannot understand what is being spoken. Another description of it that I use about it is, it sounds like I am hearing a radio station that is "talk radio". Can be more than one person talking. The tones vary, up and down, like any conversation you normally hear. I find it interesting that you mention "fight or flight" in relationship to tinnitus. I had to retire a year ago from an extremely stressful job where I was having what I thought was burnouts about once a year where when extreme stress from many directions overwhelm me. Each new burnout kept getting worse and worse. Memory none existent during the last one a year ago. I was unable to troubleshoot, reason, or any deep thinking. I described this to people, including my doctor, as if suddenly my brain just goes on vacation without me, leaving me with just very basic thinking capabilities. I sat for two days in front of my computer not knowing how to use it. it was a very scary experiences. I asked my family doctor eventually during this last burnout a year ago, to put me on disability because I wasn't able to do my job and he replied "look at you. You can work" At that moment I lost all trust in doctors. Obviously I was having mental illness, not physical. He was no help what so ever , leaving me no choice but to retire earlier than I could financially. 4 months after retiring I woke one morning and my most of my thought processes had returned. I went to KZbin to try to figure out what the heck keeps happening. The only thing that matched was that my fight or flight protection was the culprit. A year later, I still struggle with memory and and mild reasoning ability. At least I can communicate verbally again. So it sounds like the fight or flight might be the cause for hearing the talk radio station I hear in my head. While watching your video, I suddenly realized that I wasn't hearing the voices. The tinnitus is still there but at a much higher pitch than normal. I started recording everything about this day, hoping to finally figure out these voices. I took my vital signs and wrote them down along with what I ate today. Have you ever heard of this before? It must have started due to extreme stress at work, and it makes sense it might be part of the fight or flight. I do wear hearing aids and they are top of the line hearing aids. My audiologist just blows off anything about the voices. I hear them with or without my hearing aids in. Any insight you may have on why this is happening and how to stop it, I would greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts and the thoughts of this videos guest speaker. Tinnitus is hard enough to cope with, but add voices on top of it is exhausting to deal with. Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with tinnitus and the additional experience of hearing voices. I can share that sometimes tinnitus can manifest in various forms, including the perception of inaudible voices. Practicing relaxation exercises to calm your nervous system could be beneficial, as stress and anxiety can often exacerbate tinnitus symptoms. Additionally, sound therapy, such as using white noise or soothing sounds, might help distract you from both the inaudible voices and the ringing.

Here's my thought. I have tinnitus and looking for a cure. Last night I had a dream. It was about me asking an audiologist what the frequency of my tinnitus was. It is a sound so it must be measureable. Mother Earth measures 7.83 hz so 2 things came up. Am I picking up earth's frequency? We are all vibrating on certain frequencies so maybe some of us are more sensitive than others. And then there are the geomagnetic solar flares and cme's that seem to be amping up and that for perhaps sensitive person's could cause some extracurricular brain activity. I wondered about the apt. Does it have a frequency that I am picking up on. Its a different sound than the refrigerator going off and on. Grounding (comment down below) mat makes sense. Just the idea of grounding and syncing up Mother Earth vibes makes sense. I know when I go into places like Target and Walmart the lights are so bright and the tinnitus really gets loud. I have to leave. The sound, right ear only, is like static on a radio and it seems to tune in and out. Left ear is clicking. It is usually at night and not always. Sweets seems to make it worst and a stressful day. So the fasting comment below also resonated. I do QiGong to sync up the chakras and I am of the belief It can't hurt so its worth a try. It helps in other ways too. I read the comments and they helped me so am sharing my dream and hope that helps someone too.

According to the Jastreboff TRT-model, the sound used in sound therapy should be a neutral sound which should not draw attention. Music is very good in itself of course, but can hardly be classified as a neutral sound. That's why the general idea of sound therapy is that one uses pink of white noise, or nature sounds etc.

Maybe make sure your guests actually know what Tinnitus is, this person I guess knows music but had nothing to add except hearing themselves talk, no answers a waste of time. I've had severe Tinnitus for 50 years what we need is real science and effort to find a cure, I've been watching Treble Health for awhile now and believe you guys are truly working towards relief in a field full of quacks and crooks.

Does having hyperacusis as well as tinnitus make it difficult to have relief with Tinnitus Retraining Therapy? I started the Tinnitus Retraining Therapy 6 months ago and I see very little change. Also, I listen to binaural beats first thing in the morning. Is it okay for me to do so? Thanks so much!

When hyperacusis and tinnitus coincide, we have to address the hyperacusis before we will see drastic changes in the tinnitus. It is okay to listen to binaural beats first thing in the morning. I agree on the sound and identifying what it is and what is happening around someone. The white noise I think inhibits the identification of a subject. I see it in my grandchildren, they are insecure when they hear noises they are not used to or hear them often and have them on alarm mode. If they had heard them from early on, that would not be the case. It makes me feel better to hear I am not wrong in my observation. Now to the tinnitus issue, I did not realize how bad mine has gotten over the years, and having 50 % hearing loss on one side is the worst. I do have an appointment with a special clinic coming up and listening to this post helps me to talk with them. Thank you for posting.

Dr. Thompson's interruptions with subject change truly disrupted the train of thought from Dr. Kraus. How very counter-intuitive to do so to your listeners who are already desperately battling intrusive tones while listening to this interview. Edit: After listening to this interview, I regret wasting my time being told what we know affects how we hear sounds. Duh! As for music as therapy for tinnitus, perhaps for non-musicians but as a professional musician I say, no thanks!

Drawing from everything we learned here today, would you opine that sound, especially tinnitus-like sounds could be directed at humans in such a way as to produce the constant state of stress tinnitus appears to accompany in those who suffer from it more organically? In other words, could tinnitus-like sounds trigger and maintain the fight/flight response in humans as a method of torture, even in public spaces without attracting attention to the torturer? TIA
