I love The Dodo. Whenever I'm losing faith in humanity (again) I just look at their videos, and it cheers me up immediately. Seeing such wonderful parents that raised a lovely sweet (and maybe a little spoiled!) dog and no doubt that child will also grow up to be an amazing person. It's not that often you see a youngster who is so gentle with animals.

Oh my heart - it just melted! 💘💞 They remind me of my youngest granddaughter and "her" puppy (whippet x Bedlington terrier). All her older siblings had started school so her parents got her "her own" playmate. They're inseparable and cause chaos wherever they go! Bringing up kids with other animals, especially those who are likely to play and enjoy the company of small humans (I don't blame any animal that would rather a quiet life lol).

Years ago I let my brother and his family stay with me because they were having financial difficulties. He demanded that I keep my pit away from his baby because she would sleep under it's crib. I explained that he could close the door or leave but it's the dogs home and they were simply short term guests. One night someone tried to break into the room the baby slept in and my dog tore them up ripped one of the intruders finger off. He never complained about the dog sleeping under her crib again! That baby could crawl all over the dog and she would just sit and slap her tail against the ground so excited to be with the baby.

will say dogs can smell when their owner gets pregnant etc, so usually theyve time to adjust and get used to the baby, as theyve already been smelling them for months, obviously u never know how a dog will react but if the parents are good owners, theyll be just fine when they have a kid

My childhood exactly exept there was an added rescue puppy before I had a human brother at 7. I like to say I grew up with three languages, my fist one was Dog. I only realized this was different from most people much later. I do behavioral consulting on the side bc, well, I just can, and it takes an hour to help fix a big problem. Involving misunderstandings mostly. It's not "magic", mindreading or mumbo jumbo, they just don't use words. And humans are much more complicated they way they think,feel. I think think it's a great gift for these kids to be raised by a Dachshund, or any dog sibling. ❤

In my situation, my son was about 2 and my older son was 4. We went to live with a relative that had recently taken in a stray weiner dog. We had our own house on the land but this little dog was obsessed with the kids because they had a ton of energy. That dog actually would play hide and seek with my youngest son and would always go crazy if one of the kids went out of the gate while playing. When we would walk my son to school or walk to pick him up, the dog wouldn't leave our side. We ran into a massive dog one day and that dog was trying to attack. Our tiny little weiner dog ran at it and barked and growled insane and the bigger dog ran away. I owe a lot to little dogs! ❤
