at 8:32 - 8:40 you are showing a stove heater type thing on the wall by the ladder. I can imagine thats a law suit issue if someone comes down the ladder in the dark and walks into that thing. even if its not hot. I love the look overall though. I would have it on the opposite wall above the kitchen counter
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
Hey Stephanie. It's more of a rolling ladder not fixed so someone wouldn't go up or down it by the fireplace but since it's like a rolling barn door etc you can put bump stops on the rail if you don't want the ladder to be out there, but we'll experiment with all that later as of course we can't have that be a problem :)

It’s great to see your vision take shape. Which pullout sofa did you finally settle on?
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
I don't know the exact model but it's from Crate and Barrel and the way it pulls out is very easy and there is no springs or anything sharp and its a really nice mattress to lay on.

How long does it take for the vendor to build ONE unit? Or all 6 units?
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
They start 1/10 and should be all done by about 2/15 since they will be dedicating all their resources to our 6 all at once. It only takes them about 3 weeks to build one but it depends on when you get in on the build queue. Our original order was finalized in late October.

Very excited for this! Can you do a video about permits for this kind of project?

Just a thought: will there be curtains or blinds? With so much glass I would imagine people might feel they're on display!
@smokejumperidaho2 жыл бұрын
Yes actually the glass walls are made with smart glass 👍 so will be privacy glass with the switch of a button.

I'm obsessed with your channel. I found you on TikTok and my husband and I have loved watching everything that you put out. These seem like such an incredible option for an Airbnb in the mountains. We are just getting into Airbnbs and want to be financially free as well. Absolutely LOVE your vision and truly appreciate the videos that explain everything, including costs. We've talked about creating a tiny home community and Drop Structures seems like an incredible way to get one started.

Thank you so much!! Yes, it's a big learning curve even for us, but we do think sharing our experiences will hopefully help others and in our quest to be good humans and hopefully create some win-win relationships whether it be with our vendors, other people sharing their info...it's all hopefully just helpful stuff for people living in this little niche that we find fascinating.

Very cool. My wife and I watched all your videos last week and we are following your adventure now. We were looking at each other laughing watching this one because we are doing something very similar (with a much lower budget) but we have plans for 5 units (1 already operational) and turning the barn into a clubhouse very much like you. We will have a different building for laundry. Very cool what your are doing and now I need to research how to set up a Tesla charging station and if there is any around my area in the smoky mountains. Any advice on where you did your research for the charging stations?
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
Thanks guys!! So cool to find others doing the same type of endeavors we are into. It's fun and scary haha. The "Tesla" charging station is more of a render but you can buy EV charging stations for very reasonable prices on Amazon it's just important you can run 220V to it so it's like fast charging. And then you just mount it on your own type post or what not...still researching that but I know it's not a big deal.

how many acres?

Not much actually. Less than 2 acres but enough for what we’re trying to do :-)

Great vision and thanks for sharing your journey. You mentioned that getting one Duo, the larger unit, facilitated your permitting work due to it being considered an ADU? Is that right? How are the other units, Holo Plus' different from Duo in terms of structural build, permitting etc? Thanks!
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
Hey Taylan. It's because it's all one level with no loft bedroom. And the main door and bathroom doors are wider allowing the ADU access. The Holo Plus conversely has a bedroom loft with a ladder and smaller doorways.

Love it! Nice vision. I would love to see how you secure the common area. Will it be staffed? Can the staff live in the common area? Looking forward to the next video.
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
Thanks RIck!! We actually don't plan on "staffing it" other than like our normal housecleaning staff that will have to clean it perhaps 1-2x a day but we really have the goal of trying to make it a fully self sufficient building with a smart lock just like the regular tiny homes and certain hours it will be open. But-we will have alot to figure out as we go through it.
@koyafarm78263 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim these concepts look great! Could you share a rough breakdown on the costs of the tiny homes? Cost of each delivery, cost of each landing pad, and dimensions. I’m looking to do something similar but will be building the properties on site over a much longer time frame.
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We’ll definitely be breaking down the costs of this project in a future video. Hope you see you there 🙏

Love the lobby idea! Especially because I WFH. It would be nice to take a working-holiday from Boise. Do you think you'll open the lobby coffee shop to the public as well?
@smokejumperidaho3 жыл бұрын
Hey Shannon. We wouldn't open it to the public unless we shifted gears and went to more of a monetization model where it was like a real coffee shop with an outside vendor providing etc. The idea at this point is simply to provide it to guests only as an extra amenity. But it's hard to predict until we see how it all plays out the closer we get there and try it out...
