That property has fantastic views!! The little houses would be great for weekend bungalows or possibly a week's use. Great idea to group them along a property with a good view and rent them out. Great video and really liked the interaction with the owner. He seemed to be really a nice guy! I wish him the best of luck with his tiny home venture. Cheers from Alaska!!

Dear SideTripeLife - Of course, Koh Samui was different when I first got there in 1983 (as a young guy !?) after a difficult journey. The last time it was a bit more comfortable: With the ferry from Don Sak to Nathon (I think it was the Lipa Noi Pier a little further south) and back to the mainland with the monopoly Bangkok Air. Overpriced, but the Samui airport was for me at that time the most beautiful in the world! And the start next to the big Buddha was amazing. If I look at this now as a somewhat aged man I have to say: Koh Samui is still worth a trip and still has a tropical flair. Nice video - Let's go. hannes w.

Another great informational video my friend. I like the small houses but not my cup of tea. I think in some locations, a foreigner can have a 30 year lease on a small piece of land for maybe 200,000 baht. Long term, that will be much cheaper than paying 5,000 baht a month, of course this is only my opinion. Here in Prachuap Khiri, Khan land prices are much more expensive due to the location and proximity to the mountain and the sea. The further away, the cheaper the land. Stay safe!
@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, also for the local info Joe. Still wouldn't mind one of these on a cheap long term lease plot, or perhaps rent monthly (if someone made a tiny home park near Pkk for example ;););)

Thx for the comments and for sharing memories. Prices seemed ok to me? I think he said 25 sqm/270 Sq F incl upstairs loft space = approx $50 Sq F / $520 Sq M / 16,000 Baht Sq M. Lucky to build even a basic home in the West for under $100 Sq F.. Also tough to get a mediocre condo build here for less than 45,000 baht Sq M. Absolutely LOVED Phangan! Was just there, stayed at Sri Thanu area. Will definitely return, can't stop thinking about it and the people were wonderful too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWHcYWWbhNmsnKc

The reason tiny homes don’t seem to really work in the US is because of regulations. In New York for instance they have regulations on how far a door has to be from things and even more stipulations, making the design of smaller apartments near impossible.

I love tiny homes, and initially I thought it was 400K for the tiny home on the beach front property, but 400K just for the tiny home and you still need to supply the land, that's really not worth it, at least from my research on building homes in Thailand.

RJ, if you know a place on a beachfront in Thailand with tiny houses for sale including the land for 400K/$13,000 USD please reserve all they have avail for me lol. @SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your query. Definitely not recommending anyone buy anything. Best to check out all aspects thoroughly and in person before any consideration. Also usually recommend firstly renting a place for a few months to see if living here suits one's lifestyle. In this case, one would also have to look at leasing a land plot. He said his land is not available but some buyers had found other suitable plots at good prices (but this takes a lot of looking). Also, if not off-grid must look for a plot with services. Then there's visa's to consider. If over 50 a retirement visa, under 50 longer term visas are difficult, some do a 'study' visa but that's been tightened as well. The other options are form a Co Ltd and get a biz visa, also tightened, or an 'elite' visa, costly. So, as much as it perhaps looks like a potentially viable and cheap alternative lifestyle, lots to consider beforehand.

Apparently that's what the customer chose. Can choose from a variety of materials. OSB is better than plywood at least as the wood strands are bonded by resins & panel then coated with laminate. I am not sure if this type of business will be successful in Thailand. Here on Koh Samui, houses/villas with a private pool, the cost starts from 3 million baht ( 100 000$). A villa 50 meters from Lipa Noi Beach can be bought for 6 million baht (200 000$) freeholder type of property. If not need to be on the beach all the time, the prices for the property really low compared to the European level of life.

Well, there's yet another advantage of having a moveable home, not feeling secure in your location? Just move it! Actually the Gulf Of Thailand areas (East coast) are less likely to suffer a Tsunami. There is a subduction zone off the East Philippines coast but it's far less active than the one in the Java/Sundai trench. But really, at the end of the day one cannot live under a bed so to speak worrying about every possible scenario.... (or, just add inflatable rings around your tiny home, sorted;)
