I know that you are probably bored of me commenting but I just wanted to again say Thank you for another wonderful video and all the helpful hints. I will be in Thailand this year during June-August and one of the must stay places is the Sea View on the beach hotel. They look like great value and the perfect location. Your videos are helping me to create an itinerary of places to visit and eat along my travels. I must say that you have also convinced me to stay in Khanom Beach for a few weeks. Since I already own rooms in Jomtien I have decided to retire in Thailand but spend the first several years without ties or restrictions and just travel. A few months on Koh Samui then maybe a few months in Chiang Mai, then spend a while in Lop Buri and just go wherever the the four winds may take me. Like yourself, I will not restrict myself just to Thailand but also visit Sumatra and Lake Toba and then off to the Mentawai islands. If the locals ask why I am there, I will simply blame you 🙂 I must confess that leaving Koh Samui to return to Bangkok for me would have been a major struggle 😞 Happy travels

love your videos. you did a great job checking out the local hotels/restaurants/sceneries. I have saved a few "want to go" places on the google map because of your videos. keep up the great work! if thailand does remove the quarantine requirement for people who had vaccinated, it would remove one of the biggest obstacles for visiting thailand. recently back in the States, the government has required all returning people to have a negative test before allowed to get on the return flight. so that made international travel even harder. but there was a recent news about major hotel chains are offering in hotel covid tests at some of their resorts. if they offer that in thailand as well, combined with the no quarantine for vaccinated people, vacation in thailand is once again viable.

Any news on when Thailand will be like before? Travel wise?
@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Hi Zeid. That's a BIG question with many unknowns but as many are likely wondering the same, will try to answer best as I can. Travel wise, things will likely never be like before imho (and will take time to ramp up but Thailand will bounce back). When? It appears some in the Govt plus some hotel industry leaders (Bill Heinecke Anatara/Minor Group etc) are floating an idea to permit vaccinated travellers in and without a quarantine. Mr Heinecke suggests allowing International vaccinated visitors firstly into Phuket as a pilot zone, then expand to Samui & Pattaya. Heinecke letter: bit.ly/3thPKWI The Tourism Minister said they must first seek a 'vaccine passport' agreement between ASEAN countries and then look to allow entry 'after Songkran' (late April). He went on to say that other foreign travellers (non-ASEAN?) would be able to come to Thailand 'by the 3rd quarter of this year'. The 1st stage (ASEAN entry) would apparently be dependent on also vaccinating 5 million tourism related workers in Thailand. Unlikely this would meet wider public acceptance though.... To make this work, probably need the Thai population vacced to a high threshold beforehand. Remains to be seen how quickly Thailand can obtain needed vaccines and then administer. Tourism Minister opening proposal: bit.ly/3pFQEu7 Either way it's likely one will need a digital vacs cert to fly, or for technophobes scan a card with same. I get that some have concerns and others simply reject this. However, no cert, no fly and no entry will likely become the norm for global travel & even for domestic travel, here and everywhere. Also many workplaces will require same, perhaps also for access to public transport, malls etc. Thus, if one chooses not to vacs, then enjoy the 'freedom' of the basement, plus being most susceptible to the latest mutating strains. For the rest, hope you may return to Thailand & in the not too distant future.

@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Thanks eh;) I use a phone as I like to just keep it simple. Don't like messing about, carrying or buying gear, or charging & attaching gimbals, cords, mics, etc etc. Prefer to simply point n shoot, ideally with just a hand held phone. Got this phone as it's the 1st one with an actual built-in 3 axis gimbal on the 'main' lens, plus 1.6 aperture & 5G, all at almost 50% less cost than latest Iphone or Samsung. One downside is the narrow field of view on the main lens and unfortunately on the wide screen lens there is no gimbal (x60 pro just dropped, wide angle has gimbal, dammit). Will do a full phone review in a separate vid soon. For the record, I shoot in lower res 1080/60 FPS as I don't like messing about with huge 4K files which also take a ton of storage space. Some reviews: vivo X50 Pro - Shooting The Milky Way on a Phone kzbin.info/www/bejne/l165hoppn816iZo vivo X50 Pro Vs iPhone 11 Camera Comparison: Which Is Best kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4KweJenisuteKM And Vivo X60 Pro just dropped and it's improved again with F1.5 ZEISS lens (that should also amp up low light nicely) Here's the side by side specs with iPhone 12 pro max: www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10260&idPhone3=10237&idPhone2=10696 So, might be selling my X50 pro soon if anyone int, great all round phone;)

I for one hope they don't go that route as Samui was my planned home in few years but not for a toxic injection!
@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Likely every country will have that requirement for travellers, plus many industries, jobs etc. Also airlines, domestic & intnl will ilikely need a digital proof of vacs, or, carry a plastic card with digital vacs chip, like a drivers license. Both scannable to fly, enter a bank, supermarket, etc, etc, etc Just the new reality. No vacs, no go, up 2 u as they say.

The bikes make more noise than the cars....getting everyone riding electric bikes should be the first order of business. If China can do it, SE Asia can do it too.
@SideTripLife4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Electric bikes are starting to catch on in SE Asia. Was in Myanmar last year and rented electric bikes there. In Saigon, leccy bikes from China are becoming popular (still noisy due to incessant horn beeping mind you;). But it's starting to make more sense + cents. Charging is cheaper than petrol and there's scant maintenance on electric bikes, mainly brake pads & rubber. Range fear is still a factor but as prices continue to drop and range continues to increase (+ bike battery swap kiosks & ever more charging stn rollouts) it won't be long before e-bikes rule, especially on inner city roads.
