Thanks for trying that, it’s unfortunate but I think YT has dropped supporting or even suggesting my channel, I get 6K views in 4 days but have over 260K subscribers on my channel? Thanks 😊 I appreciate your support. Unfortunately trying to keep my channel alive is proving to be a loosing battle, not sure if I will be able to get my viewers back? It’s been a labor of love for many years, I like making videos but this free content ends up costing me a lot to make.

If you’re in Seattle, stop by Sound Foundations NW in SODO. We build 8’ by12’ tiny homes 6 days a week for the homeless using jigs. About 4 homes a week are completed using volunteers (many are first time using power tools).

HEY MIKE! I'm still rolling on this end. I haven't had time to watch much You tube content, and haven't touched on your content in probably 8+ months. I've got some catching up to do! Its all in my queue! I've been building AWESOME over head shelving in my little garage. 70+ linear feet of over head shelving. Lighting gets improved TODAY! I was excited to watch this video. I love your channel! Can't wait to post a crappy 30 second video of the shelves I made. They even are above the roll up garage door. It clears! God bless! Thumbs up! P.S. I share your content at the Nevada Tesla Giga factory. Lot's of watchers on that end. Your being shared around the world!

Thanks for sticking around over the years! I have slowed down on larger Fab projects over the past few years, I really enjoyed them but the larger projects really took away from my family time. I will definitely still do some metal Fab videos but probably nothing quite like the Articulating dump truck. I do have some metal Fab accessories planned for a machine I purchased recently. So those should be coming this spring and summer 😊👍

First off all, appreciate the guidelines you have to confirm before commenting. Block the disrespectful people. Your content is always awesome. Second: Sucks that here in Germany laws considering trailers suck soo bad. On top of that having a movable house basically melts the system because now the vehicle authorities and the housing authorities both have an interest in your cabin and the only real work around is renting a spot on an official ampground and having your cabin there permanently. But what's the fun in that? German campgrounds suck compared to most campgrounds in the western States or western Canada. Awesome series, keep it up. Cheers from Germany

Thanks for checking out my new video 😊 It’s almost opposite over in the states about these mini houses on trailers. It’s still a trailer so it’s no problem for registration and plates. There’s really no building codes for a non permanent structure as long as it’s on an axle and can be moved. So they are pretty easy to add on a lot or property without any permitting. I’m definitely looking forward to getting in back to my place and starting on the interior and exterior 😊

Right on! Thanks for checking out my new video 😊 so far it’s been a fun simple project. One suggestion, don’t over think it, I have had enough comments already on this video about the trailer axle is not in the right spot or that I should have used pressure treated lumber. Definitely just work with what you got and build one man 😊 Good luck on your mini cabin!

Very similar to how Ice Castle fish houses are made in Minneaota. I was building one of those back in high school, so about 14 years ago now. But could never figure out how to adhere the floor or studs to the steel frame. But I may try to build one again and definitely use this as a reference on how to do it. Originally it was going to be my Junior/Senior/Welding school project, but since I could never really figure it out, I sold the trailer frame to an uncle.

It might have been better to put that heavy plastic under the 2x3 floor to keep moisture away from the non-pressure treated pine. But a good coat of paint should work too.
@Mikefestiva

I have put a bit of thought into most projects I do, this was planned, I didn’t want to make a mouse nesting area in the floor of my cabin by making them a great place to nest. Out in the woods in the Northwest there’s a lot of mice and they can destroy a building on no time. I also don’t use pressure treated wood unless it’s constantly exposed to water or is in contact with the ground. Pressure treated wood is fairly nasty stuff to work with. Thanks for checking out my new video.

How do you know that the axles are in the correct location to give you the right tongue weight and tracking? Seems like they should be farther back. How did you determine the correct location? Building your own seems like a good idea if you have the time and motivation. You can learn the skills and choose tools that work for you.
@Mikefestiva

There’s a saying, “work with what you got” Some people may want to spent 2 years on a project like this and do it all from scratch building it from the ground up. I’m just working with what I got and starting off with an old dual axle camper trailer seems to be a good platform. I just want to build this small cabin to take to my friends property as a place to stay when I’m visiting for snowboarding and hiking. Sometimes keeping it simple is best, I’m on a budget, trying to stay under 5K on this build. I’m just working within my means to get this done in a few months as I juggle life,family and two jobs.

one thing when you do the metal roof ,, do the laps on the roof so that highway speed the wind can't get under the seams and lift the sheets off if backwards the wind could lift all your seams . hope you will have enough tongue weight when done so the trailer don't sway .. the building is looking good , like the cross bracing in the walls ,,
@Mikefestiva

We definitely think alike, definitely considering wind and metal for traveling down the road. I think I will be adding batteries and some other heavy stuff in a box inside the triangle, that should help with the tongue weight 😊👍

Very simple build with a small simple trailer. It became a movement and everyone wanted one but they were too small. So tiny house on wheels evolved into 40’ trailers and double wides, and people calling 1,000 sq. Ft. Tiny lol. Thanks for keeping it simple.

As you know I have two sawmills, I do plan to mill all the exterior siding, interior trim and Cedar for the ceiling. Honestly it comes down to time, I have some lumber on hand that’s dry but I don’t have enough stored and dry for this project. Kiln dried wood is nice to work with and its far cheaper now compared to the cost 2 or 3 years ago. I think I paid about $6 for a 8’ 2x6. Between working two jobs and balancing family responsibilities it came down to time versus cost. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for checking out my new video 😊👍

Thanks I have never heard this before, I really don’t this there’s any setting for that but I will look into it??? I feel about a year and a half ago YT just sunk my channel and stopped suggesting it to most of my subscribers. Thanks and I will look into it but unfortunately I really think it’s on KZbins side of things and they won’t ever respond to my emails 😔

Maybe I missed it. But why did you choose to buy studs vs. milling your own? Cool project! (Signed - your neighbor to the east in Selah, WA.)
@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out my new video. It really comes down to Time vs money. Milling your own lumber takes a far amount of time and needs to dry a long time. Kiln dried lumber is really cheap right now and you can build right away. A 2x4 8’ is $3.25 And a 2x6 8’ is only $6.20 I’m trying to get this project finished in a few months so I can start using it and get onto other things. I do however plan on milling all the Cedar exterior siding, interior trim, ceiling and shelving. Cedar is expensive so I definitely will save a lot on that. I will probably mention this in the next video in more detail 😊👍

How is that Vulcan Omnipro 220 holding up? Mine has been 100% solid! OSB sucks in my opinion.

My Vulcan has been great, the one I reviewed years ago was awesome as well, I sold it to buy the ProTig to learn Aluminum welding. I bought this OmniPro over a year ago on a Black Friday sale. Zero complaints 👍😊 I’m glad to hear you still have yours.

When will you make another xpro dual sport video?
@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 9 ай бұрын
Probably fairly soon, the weather has been snowing or raining just about every day for the last month, all the trails are mud. I’m in the process of making a video of some upgrades on the Templar 250, just need a few sunny days to get back out on the trails to finish the video off 👍 hopefully in the next few weeks I can get the video finished.

I am suprized youdidnt paint your floor joists to keep them from weathering.
@Mikefestiva

I just don’t like spending time on things that won’t really matter. They will last for the next 30 years without any problems being just the way they are. I built a cabin 25 years ago and the floor joists are in perfect shape still. If I was parking this mini cabin in a pond then I could see covering them but they will be dry and out of the weather. Thanks for checking out my new project.

were the 2x6 pressure treated? they will get wet for sure out there .
@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 9 ай бұрын
I built a cabin over 20 years ago without pressure treated wood and it’s still completely solid 👍 I’m not worried about the 2x3” under the floor, probably never tow it in a rain storm, if I do it will dry out again. Pressure treated lumber is fairly nasty stuff to work with so I avoid it unless something is in contact with the ground. It’s only got it last another 30 or 40 years, I don’t see myself lasting much longer than that 😊 Thanks for watching.

How did you determine how high to build wheel well
@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 9 ай бұрын
I measured how many inches between the axle and frame, than took the measurement and added a few extra inches for clearance, then added the total above the tires to the wheel well frame I welded up. Also to address the pressure treated wood, this mini cabin won’t be on the road much, the wood shouldn’t have any issues, even if it got wet of the trip over to where I’m parking it at it’s going to dry out. I have built many many cabins and I try not to use pressure treated wood unless it’s something in contact with the ground. Thanks for checking out my video 👍

@Mikefestiva
@Mikefestiva 8 ай бұрын
I always liked the Omni pro, I sold my original Omni to buy a AC TIG welder to learn aluminum welding, I kept my Titanium 200 and ran it for about 3 or four years, I gave the Titanium 200 to my friend that needed a welder and bought another Omnipro 1.5 years ago because I have always liked the welder.
