I'd just bought a new box of baking chocolate powder. And I need something new to do for a moist cake from scratch. I have bananas ripening right now for a banana bread/cake. Anytime you add carrots, bananas, or something like that it adds to moistness and flavor. But you don't taste carrots, or here the applesauce. Good show!!

I must try this one too! Im a choco-holic lol!! Peanutbutter and chocolate = taste bud paradise! With a chocolate cake butterscotch chips add nicely to the flavor. One of my favorite desserts is a warm brownie topped with a scoop of icecream. I kind of have a sweet tooth (or 2 😉). A few days ago I made a 9x13 gooey buttercake adding cocoa to the base. Soo good. Erm, its gone already! Not very healthy I know, but sure was yummy! A tip for using dairy 'real' butter, which of course is harder that oil base butter. Right out of the fridg shred it using a cheese grater. Easier to mix. Easier and quicker to melt. Spreads easier on toast too. Good vid, as usual.👍

Oh yeah, if you're not allergic to it, adding peanut butter to this probably would be good!

Did not have any Chocolate chips and my pecans are on the verge of turning rancid.. so just made the cake part and I will tell you IT IS SO DELICIOUS and so lite, fluffy and moist.. I haven't made an apple sauce cake in a very long time. There must be a BIG home baked aroma in tiny Fy Nyth. :) This look delicious, but will need to wait a bit as I'm waiting for my avocados to ripen and I have apples and cranberries pending for a pie and apple cider vinegar.

Here's the problem. Even with a "friend" coming over that's still too much leftover cake for me. I have to give so much food away just to make simple recipes like a cake, pie, lasagna, etc., even with freezer space! But I need to cook. I think I'm going to buy a restaurant or something; pizza maybe. I'm like Rocky at the tops of those steps when I'm cooking!

when I was a visiting nurse in the hills of Arkansas a patient who was known for her desserts told me this----If you have the same amount of sugar as you do cake flour you will have a moist cake example (-2cups sugar and 2cups flour)..... also WR Flour is even better than cake flour. I seem to agree with her . Have used applesauce to be able to cut down on the amount of fat, usually oil. I use it to cut down oil with muffins as well. When I do- I usually use one fourth applesauce to the rest of oil. Am glad you are showing cooking videos. Do you make deer or moose or elk sausage? what would the herbs you would use. Used to make sausage with my mother, but never was "in charge" of the seasonings, and Mama never wrote any recipes down, now can't even think about what they would be, except red pepper!!!!
@FyNyth6 жыл бұрын
No I've never made sausage. It's just a flavor I've never personally liked much, but I'm sure you could google lots of good recipes!

Ariel, Looks good. Do you save the egg shells for the compost or are they too much of a lure for critters? When you did the chocolate mousse with avocados, I looked up how a chocolate mousse was normally made and found that the egg yolk was an emulsifier to hold every thing together. The avocado had compounds that act as an emulsifier. I took an avocado that I had and mixed it up with olive oil, lemon juice and vinegar with a bit of garlic. It made a good sandwich spread to replace mayonnaise. Always learning new stuff from you.
@Phil1stalk6 жыл бұрын
The Three Stooges throw the egg shells right in with the cake batter! Crispy, crunchy recipe!
@FyNyth6 жыл бұрын
I do compost shells. Nothing has ever seemed to bother them other than an occasional squirrel moving a few around. And yeah, the other thing the avocado has is lots of fat which replaces the butter in a traditional mousse. :)

Nice looking easy to make cake but for my taste its missing one ingredient when serving spoon over Ice Cream or Double Fresh Cream to give it that Oomph taste!
@cynthiaesparza45475 жыл бұрын
If only using coconut flour, you would have only needed half a cup or 25 percent of the amount of wheat flour recommended for the recipe. Some even say only 20 percent is needed. It does absorb a lot of moisture but is nice that only a small amount of flour is needed so cost effective compared to almond flour.
@FyNyth5 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I've not found there to be much of a difference that I've noticed in my cooking.

What kind of sugar do you use? I've experimented using moreno and turbinado but they don't do well in cookies and cakes. They make it very dry

Glad you like it! I've never officially tested anything, but I know that my body doesn't tolerate something in milk, but cream/butter doesn't bother me. There's lots of different proteins etc in milk and I think different people have a hard time with different parts of it.

My wife and I watched your video together and then she disappeared into another room. About 10 minutes later I went into the kitchen and she has your recipe out and is starting to mix ingredients for your cake. OK, store bought apple sauce, white wheat flower and no chips or nuts for topping, but I'll bet it is going to be good. Sad comment: Store apples are flavorless. Like all fruit, it seems apples have been modified for shelf life at the expense of flavor. You are very lucky to have your own apple trees.
