Elizabeth, my former husband was a ceramic tile contractor. He used to purchase 5 gallon buckets of baking soda to add to thin set and concrete mix ... it makes them set faster. Anyway, I used to add a healthy portion of baking soda to my cat's litter box. It helps a lot to keep the smell down and it's cheaper than the fancy litters on the market today. Happy Trails from Texas. Love your videos ...

Tinyhouse Prepper Hi! I asked this in another video. Could Bill install a little cat door in your bedroom door to the sunroom? Your kitty could go out there and get fresh air and sun and still be safe. We have a cat door going to the back porch. It's screened in.

I agree with Debra. Have also starting to weed out things that I haven't used in a while. Makes it so much easier to keeps things cleaned up when you don't have 3 of the same item. Why clean the 1 if I have 2 more to dirty before I really need to clean it. My kitchen cabinets actually have room for the things that belong in them and not on the counter. Also found that when my son unloads the dishwasher it is easier for him to put things away. Thank you for sharing.

Great video, my husband and i moved into a Class A RV. We have about 300q ft, we opted not to have a storage unit anywhere, so everything we own is in this space. You are absolutely right with your systems, especially the budget, not taking out credit is the best way to go about things, we do not have any credit notes out, nor do we ever intend to take any. When you live in a small space it is important to do those daily tasks and keep everything in its place. We have 3 cats, so we have 2 litter boxes, we had to stop using clumping litter because our oldest cat (13yrs) has developed diabetes, he urinates so much that the clumping litter turns into a big clay mess. :( My vacuum is very similar to yours and I almost bought that unit, but we opted for the expensive Dyson model instead, it has the powered brush and I think it is a bit smaller than the shark. We needed one that could run on batteries because we do not always have power for corded appliance. Thank you so much for sharing, and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

I love your beautiful life. As I studied the bible, I realized tithing is not New Covenant. We give with a happy heart, and not just to one person. I give to homeless or anyone in need. Tithing was old testament, and was not necessarily money. It was wines, grains, and animals. Believers are not under bondage, but FREE in Christ. God bless you both!!

Love all of the advice and the bloopers are a hoot! I have learned I'm not doing so badly. I'm not as well-honed as you are, but I am on my way there. I always love to see how other people live because there is inevitably at least one brilliant idea I have not thought of and can utilize in my own life. Watched the Medical Mayhem video last night. So glad by the time I saw it, the scare had passed. God had His hand all over that day! I can relate to that, too, from experiencing His Grace on my life every day. It is so good to see it in yours. We just moved from the Bible Belt to an area that is not so free and easy to express daily blessings as where we came from. It has been hard. Not even any Christian radio stations are within range so I have to listen online. It is really so odd that 2 of the largest and most popular ministries are located in the large city we live near to, but the Christian channels that are supposed to be available on antenna only TV are not. So grateful I can watch online! God bless you and your family and the cat! Look forward to seeing more from you.

Sometimes I have to remind myself of that. I am watching reading anything I can get my hands on about tiny living. I am alone, both live along and family and friends don't quite understand or agree with my choices of living in a TinyHouse, but that okay cause first and foremost I've prayed about it and I know it will be the best for me. You spoiled me with 2 videos coming so close together. I came here today expecting to find an third installment and am sooo disappointed. :) You are sharing some thought provoking information. I don't live in a tiny house and can get away with clutter and procrastination for a while, but even in my bigger house, it gets out of hand and it takes so much time and effort to set it right again. I often wish I had less space (it's a long walk from the kitchen to the bedroom) and that I had fewer things. It's funny that I spent so much time and money acquiring the things that now burden me. You make me think I need to weed out the excess and start using more self discipline about tidying up as I go. It is more necessary in a tiny house, but it would improve my quality of life in a bigger house too.

+Nel Jaz Thanks for your great comments. Actually, we did ONE video, and then discovered that it was 32 minutes long. We though that was too long, so we split it into two. That's why they came back to back. We do have one more planned, but it will probably be a few weeks. I really have come to understand that I don't NEED so much stuff, and I'm happier without it. I LOVE our big house...took a lot of serious hard work AND the Lords help to become debt-free,,,we owe nothing, including our two homes, new RV, 2 newer Tundra trucks and my favorite car i call Maxine...a 2005 Lincoln Town car, is like new...BUT we love going camping on Suavie Island, parked next to the Colombia River watching/FEELING cargo ships passing every few hours or less...I love it out there so much, I spent 4 months...didn't want to come home...YES its easier having just a few hundred feet of space to keep clean...But I can see us living in a small space for a long time and we LOVE our property, out in the country, surrounded by thousands of acres...our view is phenomenal...Breath-taking...we have covered decks we enjoy, with fireplaces, hot tub/swim-spa...its a little expensive, but, we've invested wisely, saved and scrimped to get to where we are today...and we got seriously "pinched" back in 2008...its taken years to gain back what was lost. We do our best to help others... I believe because of our being faithful in RETURNING tithes and offerings, the Lord blessed us with this beyond a gorgeous home. The people selling it lost over $450k by selling to us.,,,they had 2 offers...was a complete head-scratcher WHY they sold to us for the price we offered...we couldn't pay a penny more...so we have NO DOUBT the Lord opened the doors as wide as He could. But, its not the house inside thats amazing to me...its the view....I could live here in a tent if I had to...I'd rather live here in a tent if need be, than to live in the city in a beautiful mansion...I'm serious...no way could i live next door to noisy people, cars, city living...I love the Elk, deer, Cougar, Bobcats...and tons of birds...even a Blue Heron eating my gold fish...grrrrr!

I love your video's , I live in a cute one bedroom apt and I love it, I purge about once a month,, get rid of things I do not need ect. Four yrs ago I paid off all my credit cards and then closed them cut up the cards. All I have is my bank card. It is wonderful not having the pressure of those cards. If I do not have the money set aside I do not buy it. I live as simple as I can and it is a freedom for sure. I still pay rent but it is reasonable and my utilities are very cheap. I live alone, I just went on disabilty have very bad authrites , and so it is a new thing for me but I seem to do very well. I have three daughters and a son and 13 grandchildren . Hello, I have to applaud you on keeping your home so organized because of your tiny living space 😊 I recently bought a class c rv and totally gutted and remodeled it from inside out and bumper to bumper. I was just thinking if you both have considered replacing your tiny trailer with a larger trailer? A 5th wheel or even a single wide 40ft modular trailer? There are so many that are practically being given away for a sm price or even free if removed. Then sometimes with a little work as you know 😊 they can make beautiful spaces. I was just wondering if that would ever be something you've considered?
@LiveSimpleLiveFree6 жыл бұрын
We had an opportunity to put a larger, newer RV on our lot. We could have gotten the RV for a really cheap price. When I figured the cost of removing this one, pouring piers, and all the other requirements of the township to replace this old RV, the cost was startling. We are “grandfathered in” as far as the regulations go in this old RV. We are doing everything cash, so no loans. We are thrilled to be out of debt!
@madeinmichigan67736 жыл бұрын
Tinyhouse Prepper We are also debt free and own our 900sqft sm home, 2 vehicles and a rv and have paid off credit a long time ago but all if of this is only my opinion....just simply an opinion ok. 😊 But I just feel that we only have this one life to live. Just this fast flying by before our eyes...life! We can't come back and do it again differently because of regrets and living life pinching pennies to go to our grave so were not in debt may not be the total answer to happiness? Not that you have to be in debt to be happy either but sometimes to have a sm payment on something that brings you happiness can be a good thing in our older age. I'm 50 by the way 😊 But to live in such a cramped place to me is just not necessary when there are so many cheap options these days. I hear you keep saying how expensive things are and that you have to pour SLABS and get permits etc...I don't know why you have to do all those things because I'm not in your home State? Have you've watched tiny houses on KZbin? Most are made upon a rv trailer beds and are completely mobile just as a larger RV would be. This way you can just put it up on its jacks when your parked and then also have the option to be able to take it where ever you want. Why do you need new anything? Nothing has to be new....it can all be done with second hand materials and a practically free larger RV that may need a complete remodel but have good bones 😊 My vintage Class C 1978 Chevy Shasta 22ft was 1700.00 and gutting it was my labor and time because I chose to do it. Lowes has discontinued flooring, lumber and so many discontinued or unsellable building materials for pennies that they keep in the back of their store. I found cabinets at Habitat for Humanity and other home salvage stores for under 100.00 for everything needed for the kitchen and bathroom. All they needed was paint. The floor was 20.00 and is real cherry hardwood. It was 10.00 per box and I bought 2. It was enough. Then there are so many sell it sites like ( Let Go) for ppl needing to sell their things and great finds are there for everything you could ever need including building materials, carpet, paint, lighting etc... Facebook even has a marketplace where home goods in your area are dirt cheap. I know your mind is made up to stay but all I was saying is that if you wanted a bigger tiny space you could do it and still be debt free 😉 I just know that when some people put their mind to something and want something bad enough they will find a way and make it work. But I think your very content in your tiny space because your not home very much 😉 If you were in it 24/7 like Elizabeth is you may think about it a little harder about having a little more space to just move around in and not for more stuff....just breathing room. It is doable on a tiny budget if you want it 😊 Thank you for hearing me out. I think you both are so sweet and just deserve after all these years of working....you deserve a home that has some more room to move around in. Have a lovely day and God Bless you both. Michelle from Michigan 💖

It was actually me (Elizabeth) that responded before. 😊 We own this land. It has very unusual zoning to permit smaller homes. Therefor we cannot have a home here that isn’t permanently in place. I live in a plantation and still have the problem with paper...there is no such thing as enough room for all that darn paper. We live in a swamp, there is no recycling anywhere near here. Most of our bills are paid online and still we end up with a large box of tax receipts and tons of invoices and envelopes and junk mail so we got a shredder and put the shredded paper in the worm compost box. I also use the shredded paper to pack boxes to mail and for the chicken boxes when we had them. The worst is those shiny cardboard election mailers, you can shred them but what do you do with the pounds and pounds of shreds that you can't use around worms or chickens? It does not make good packing material either, it lays too flat. In the past I used some to start the trash pile fire but it is not even really good for that. This year there was so much of it that I had to put most of it in the garbage and now I feel bad about adding that much to the landfill. I am hoping that when we move we won't get as much junk mail, 40 years at the same address has gotten us on every mailing list imaginable. I am going to be very selective about giving out my address when we move and keep the one for the business separate from the home address. Have you found any way to deal with the mounds of paper besides just putting it in the household garbage?

+Candide Thirtythree This is Elizabeth. We fortunately do have recycling available to us, so we recycle all of the paper we get rid of. Paper "stuff" is my biggest organizational headache. You have come up with some great solutions.

Federal income taxes, state income taxes, property taxes, home insurance, car insurance, home gas, car gas, electricity, water, cell phone, sewer, if you have it cable, internet, food, even lawn maintenance...and then you still need to save for retirement and heaven forbid you have student loans....people don't take all this into consideration when they get these big homes. Notice I skipped mortgage and car payment.

I am surprised you do not build a carport.

Believe me, I want to. But our Property Owners Association won't allow it.

I wish I could simplify. My kids are going to hate me when I leave this mess to them.

I love your videos! It's like stopping by to visit friends. And I have learned so much. I especially liked the system videos cause I have wondered too, how does this actually work day to day. Please keep them coming. :)

Works fine for us. :-) And it's cheap enough that we can easily replace it if need be.
