My kitchen has a stove, sink, enough counter space for a dish drainer, and a fridge. I have some top cabinets, and I was able to fit a narrow bookshelf and narrow microwave stand to use for storing a few kitchen needs. I have a narrow shelf unit in my livingroom that is used as a pantry and I have a pub style table and 2 chairs as well.

I just signed for my own apartment to live alone in a little (LITTLE) one-bedroom apartment with the tiniest galley kitchen I have ever seen. I'm so, so excited but space is going to be so limited. I have been binge re-watching your small space videos to help hype me up and help me prepare. Your content is part of what's inspired me to take a leap for my own tiny space in the first place. I'm trying really hard to model my planning on your idea of things serving multiple purposes and spaces being flexible!! But I love my kitchen gadgets so it's hard to acknowledge that I'm going to have to be choosy...

Ahhh love this! I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s hard to pair down (especially in the kitchen) but is so worth it to have your own space!

Clear trays helped to organize my refrigerators upper shelf. So much easier to just pull them out to get what I need then to dig and move everything around. Lazy susans helped with the rest.

This is the first time that I've watched a tiny kitchen video that is an actual tiny kitchen. Yours is even smaller than mine! I have the same sized drawers; I liked how you keep cutlery in jam jars :) I do have another cupboard on the walls which means I can put my plates away, but I'm going to ask my landlord if I can fix a strip of hooks underneath for my cups. I'm really short, so I can only just reach the bottom shelf and need to use the step-stool all the time. I have the same Ikea stand, but I use it on my counter - boxed tea bags underneath with the sugar and coffee jars on top - next to my kettle (UK, so it's an electric one). I was going to use it for my plates but it's too big for the cupboard. I have a trolley from Ikea, which holds my glass jars full of dry goods. I think that they look quite pretty, even though they're not particularly space saving because of being round. My fridge is only half the size :( and has a counter on top (which is where my kettle sits), and it also has a tiny freezer compartment, where I keep frozen fruit and ice cubes. So, I bought a countertop freezer which fits perfectly on a shelving unit from Ikea - it's one that has bars/legs on the top and bottom, so you can decide how high you want the unit to stand - and the box freezer can't move around (much) when you open the door because the bars stop it. I have too many kitchen utensils and pans etc., as I also moved from a house, but I'm having a hard time letting things go. I've decluttered twice and it's still not sorted. But that is the secret to organising a small kitchen - don't have too much stuff!

I love this ! Thank you. My parents always try to give me stuff for my kitchen and it could be like anything even like a jug for example... and I'm like I really have no room. Lol

Okay, but an honest question! If any of the people here live in a city (not a suburban area, but more like downtown), please tell me how do you handle the dust that collects on top of your open shelving? Especially one like hers -with dishes and etc.
@miaschu76142 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's why I moved my plates and bowls into the cupboard. I live on a main high street in a town that has a lot of heavy traffic. It's on an A road that runs north to south, all the way to London. The dust/pollution is awful.
@miaschu76142 жыл бұрын
I've thought about buying a dish rack, so my plates can stand upright. I thought that it might prevent dust settling so easily. Although, you'd need space for one to fit.

I get confused about this, so I'm posing the question. I've seen a number of people using the drawer under the oven for storage...is that a common practice or is that because of the smaller space? Just curious because it does function as the ovens broiler and has a lot of heat down there.
@CairaButton4 жыл бұрын
I read something about that like a year ago but I had only ever seen it used for storage. Mine definitely didn’t have a broiling function down there but I can see how it would keep things warm.
@hangingwithiryna96944 жыл бұрын
I read that the bottom drawer is to keep food warm once its done cooking

@miaschu76142 жыл бұрын
Cookers used to be like this in the UK, when I was young. My mum and nan always used it to store pans. It's too low for keeping food warm. Cookers used to have a grill (similar to your broiler, I think) right up top, at eye level, but they are now inside the oven. That "small" cooker looks average size to me. Although I'm jealous of my friends' kitchens with their double ovens and even a gorgeous Aga!
@beckygarcia44162 жыл бұрын
Are the silicon bags easy to clean?

Mine is. Just pop it into a washing up bowl with warm soapy water, wash, then rinse. I'm not sure if they're suitable for the dishwasher, as I don't have one.

I really like some of these ideas and I'm going to implement some of this. However, I think you might want to install a lip on all of those shelves if you live in an earthquake area. I can't watch this without seeing all of those lovely glass jars rattling right off 🙈

why do you have 4 fire cook top? your kitchen is too small, to have even one....
@miaschu76142 жыл бұрын
You can see that the cooker fits in the space perfectly. It isn't a separate hob and oven. It's likely that the landlord installed it with the kitchen cupboards.
