Hey Skipper

Күн бұрын

I am surf fishing this week with bottom fishing rigs to try and target some huge fish. I am fishing using a high low rig, a fish finder rig, and live mullet scavenged bait. I know these together usually work pretty well, so I can’t wait to see what we catch! Stay tuned for a catch n cook!
This week, I am at Cape Lookout with Erin, my dad, and my mom. We are relying on the ocean for any meat we are planning to eat, so I hope we can catch some good eating fish today. The last time I was here, we were catching all kinds of red drum, flounder, and bluefish! Let’s see what I can get today!

I’m Japanese and very much used to eating sashimi. Your catch looked good for eating raw (including the clean waters as you say). But most convincing was everyone’s face when eating it. Congratulations!

Yes, us Japanese rely upon the ocean for much of our protein sources. However, we do NOT eat anything and everything raw from the ocean like he kept saying.

Truly love your videos. There are so many people on KZbin that I will start with but end up unsubscribing because they get on my nerves. Your boyish enthusiasm, the unwavering support from your family, and Erin just always makes me come back. If I’ve gone too long without watching one of your videos I slap myself. I would love to see you do some fly fishing in your future videos. Keep up the great work.

that blood line is a really good bait for snapper, just tricky to get it on the hook. I use a couple of the tiny clear rubber bands that people use to braid their hair to hold the meat down to the hook and it works really well.

Yeah my brotha! Man I totally agree with saltwater fish! I can't stand when people talk bad on certain fish...but it's all on preparation. People talk bad on blow fish (not the fugu fish from Japan)...but if you taste that...one of the best fish to eat. I'm not a fan of Jack Cravelle though...even bleeding them out! I love your camp setup...you give me ideas on my truck as well.

@@HeySkipper for me amazing! I live in Miami, but I bridge fish mostly in the mid to lower keys. And it's been phenomenal! Between me and two of my boys, we've been catching 80 to 100+ fish of different species...and quality fish. I'm not lying. It's insane. I wish you can see the pics. The secret is timing these cold fronts. But the best days for me have been the weather that people don't like...which is great...it means you have the bridge to yourself. Usually beautiful perfect clear sky days with good current are very slow at times.

You guys (and every other surf fishermen) should try mount a stainless steel bell (almost every fisherman uses one in Hawaii) on your rods to alert you of a strike instead of just watching the pole. Especially helpful when you're night fishing. Usually, we wrap a brass tube just above the first eye to hold the bell or guys over here also use the plastic "Bell Buddy" that clamps on the rod. Try watching a few videos of Ulua fishing, you'll see why the bells are helpful and are applicable for surf fishing on the mainland.

Sea robin makes fine strip baits. Widely considered an annoying trash fish, but the bigger ones are actually quite tasty. But the lesson from this video is: match the hatch. Whatever bait the fish are there chasing is what you want to use. Good vid.

If she likes to drink, bring some drinks and say "if we don't catch fish we'll at least catch a buzz" That's how my female coworkers got into it from their boyfriends. Then the adrenaline of actually hooking a fish will bring them back 👌 so take her on a day you know the biting is good
