This is not even that far away from reality of ballet. Minus the murder but everything else is pretty similar. Choreographers having violent outbursts, intense competition and dancers playing mind games with each other.

Yeah If you're talking about stereotypes cause they didn't get creative at all they just did the whole show based in JUST stereotypes and made it too dramatic

While ballet can be quite competitive and choreographers can sometimes be a little crazy, this is honestly not an accurate representation of ballet. I’ve dealt with my fair share of mean dancers and teachers but it is nowhere near as competitive and crazy as this show

@TatzRules Yay yes, most choreographers and artistic directors are male and it’s honestly really messed up. Ballet still has a long ways to go before overcoming sexism.

@Asami Marry Me tbh I don't even know what you're talking about considering that the gay character's "boyfriend" was barely in the trailer. I think you're talking about the wrong guy here because the boyfriend you're talking about is not the suspicious dancer but a totally different character. Plus it aint the boyfriend either since he has nothing to do with the ballerina troop so basically you're wrong.

Someone said that it would be great if Netflix doesn't cancel the show after the first season and I just want to point out that they'll cancel it if not enough people watch it and honestly, I've seen quite some people judge the whole thing only by the trailer which is exceedingly immature. I began the series yesterday. Just saw the title and decided to give it a go and I was enthralled since episode 1. So please, give it a chance and do not judge it solely on the trailer.

I just finished it, now honestly I was hooked from yesterday (being the day I started the show). I had high hopes for Naveah but they just turned into a black girl who always lashes out and sticks her nose where it doesn't belong. She was made into a supporting role and not the lead as the series went on. In times when she was in need nobody really reached out to help her in the way she was sticking out her neck for them and risking her career. All in all a great show though with the premise of mystery and I found myself creating a suspect list and was mighty proud of myself figuring who the pusher was. The show is a good watch for sure

The show started good but got really messed up in the middle. The characters became confusing to understand. Like they weren't expressing real emotions. To me June is the lead, not Neveah. But the final episode was pretty strong. It's a good show but it doesn't come close to Elite season 1.
@WoodSageSeaSalt
@WoodSageSeaSalt Жыл бұрын
@@latebloomstories It got messed up from pretty early on I'd say. June and Bett were much more compelling as the lead characters and likely would have been better if the show focused entirely on these two instead and them being the suspect of Cassie's push. June HAD to get the lead role in order to stay in the Ballet school Bett is heavily pressured to do good with pressure from her mother and her older sister being a star. Two desparate girls competing against each other while still understanding each other's situation would have been more interesting since Naveah the supposed main character is just there barely even dancing.

Review is that the show is lacklustre. An interesting premise but obviously because of the dancing they had to compromise the quality of acting. I was irritated by a lot of the “actors”, it’s obvious they aren’t trained in it. However, it is well shot and edited, despite some of the dialogue being cringe as hell. People keep complaining that Netflix cancels everything but then when something comes out they say they'll wait if it's renewed to see it..it's this trend that keeps getting shows cancelled, viewership and new users are what keeps this shows afloat and new seasons coming. It's not cheap produce or distribute any show. It's sad to see a new show you like cancelled but try to spread the word about it and most of them get renewed by word of mouth and in this pandemic it's even more dificult to get things renewed given the limitations and the costs.

@somebodyoutthere
@somebodyoutthere 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly, let them know that their strategy to cancel shows after only 2 seasons will only backfire. They don't cancel shows not only because it has low viewership numbers. As I understood it, it's a strategy that currently brings them more money while spending less. Shows demand bigger budget each renewed season, so they'd rather make lots of shows with few seasons and bring lots of viewers for various titles, than renewing things with decent number of viewership (it has to be a huge hit to get renewed, or relatively cheaper to balance the popularity). The thing is that they also experiment, they let the shows to open possibilities for renewal to find its audience, so that many shows will be canceled without closure after 2 seasons, since in the end they only renew extremely popular shows. I wouldn't mind this strategy if only they have decided to end shows with an ending in mind after 2 or 3 seasons. Although The Society and I'm not Okay cancellations seem to be caused by the pandemic, they're to keep on giving money for contracts even when they're still not allowed to film (if not because it'll be more expensive to film with a set of rules). Apparently both are not as popular as The Witcher to give money to film in the pandemic. This one is just my guess, though.

I couldn't finish it, Neveah the actual lead of the show was sidelined for every character from the beginning, I thought it will get better but she just got sidelined even worse as the story went on, to me it felt like Bette was the main focus, hell even the cop got better treatment than that black girl who was supposed to be the main focus, once again Netflix continues to let black girls down smfh.

She literally isn't anymore. After maybe three episodes she becomes a supporting role. They hardly touch on her again. It didn't bother me that much that some plots and relationships same out of nowhere, as long as I'm entertained I will still like it. And I think there were still enough likable characters like Shane, Nabil, June...I also liked Bette after a few episodes. Also this show had the most diversity I've seen in a long time within a mainstream TV show, even though they could have kept some things less stereotypical.

@TruthBeTold love the sarcasm....But you didn’t have any sarcasm for “why can’t it be about a ballerina who just happens to be black”...? it don’t matter what race she is. Shes a ballerina first. But yeah that’s my point, movies in the past 20 or even 50 years or more have been majority white people with minorities in them. An over time it’s considered normal. Which is the problem. Nowadays when people have lead roles who aren’t white...you see petty racist comments like this and sarcasm comments like yours. Because her being a “black” ballerina may not even have *anything* to do with the overall story. An for the record I’m not even black, I don’t have to be black to defend against racism. But then again it’s the internet....I doubt the person who said the comment and your sarcasm, would be said to someone’s face. Gotta love trolls.

Why were they doing cpr on the girl that fell lol? Wouldn't she possibly have broken bones, what the hell would cpr do, shatter her further?

I was wondering the same thing. I was taught you shouldn't do CPR on someone with extensive injuries.

this show was kinda trash ngl. i wanted to like it but the plot was awful and the characters seemed so unrealistic and superficial, i just c o u l d n t with it. the only saving grace for me was that the camera work/cinematics were well shot. its sad bc the trailer made it seem like it had more promise than it actually did :/ had me thinking itd tackle issues of diversity in ballet when really it felt like a cringey attempt at creating a teen drama that fell flat. if you guys want a better drama to watch go peep grand army ! you won't regret it

Finished watching it SPOILERS for people who don't want to watch it or just wanna know before watching it This show was actually really good. If you liked "How to get away with Murder" then you would also like this. NOT SAYING IT IS LIKE HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, BUT SOMEONE LITERALLY GETS AWAY WITH MURDER LMFAO SORRY IM DUMB It's about a girl named cassie who was pushed off a building. She didn't die, she went into a coma. So the police officer chick went around and looking for suspects like any other police officer would for the whole show until the last episode when she finds who it was. A lot of breakups, a typical high school teen movie but twisted.. The main character is supposing Nevah (the black girl) but imo she isn't and it is actually the whole cast is the main character themselves. June, Bette, Oren, Shane, Nevaeh, Cassie, and the others are the main character. Now I'm get this over with cause I am to lazy so Cassie turns out to be the villain. Yes, then Victim and the Villain. She lied about who pushed her saying it was Bette, but it was Bette's sister. She is that typical bitch who will do anything to get what she wants. A ton of likable characters and a good plot if you are into things like How to get away with murder. The ending is a cliffhanger so, we will be getting a season 2.... hopefully,cause I want Oren and Shane to get together cause the show made me ship them even though they never ended up with each other. nyways show rating imo is 7/10. I liked it and hope there is more lol, I also wish Cassie died, trust me, if you end up watching it, you will hate her so much even though she was the victim.
