I love this little rack, super awesome for what I want to use it for. Would be great for a simple network setup like in an apartment of garage too. What would you use this Rack setup for?

These mini racks are looking really neat. My lab is traditional sized servers, but that's starting to look like a waste of space. One suggestion, you might consider using slim ethernet patch cables to really clean up the cable runs on this rack.

@@zenith54 100% agree. I was using legacy, retired servers i got from work or cheap online. They use so much more power, and are needed for some workloads, but mostly this is a great entry into homelabs and when you get to that point, a great way to consolidate too potentially. Also i did get some slim patch cables recently that i cleaned up the front of the rack with. You'll see those on future update videos too

That little NAS looks so cool, it's filled with a futuristic tech vibe. Besides the two HDDs, does the NAS also have an SSD inside?
@GeekOfAllTrades22 сағат бұрын
@@DeskPiOfficial it has eMMC storage onboard and upgradable ram, but it's ddr3. Still more than enough to run it as a storage device.

@@GeekOfAllTrades like a SBC , for the NAS is enough, such like Raspberry Pi NAS.

If you need help installing windows, let me know the issue. I ran it on a cluster of 8 RPI 4’s. Mixture if 4GB and 8GB units. They ran pretty good, but I ran them off of usb nvme adapters and tweaked the firmware/bootloader Back in 2018, I 3D printed my own 10” rack and 1u units for it. It was a lot of printing but turned out pretty good. I’d much rather just buy a pre-manufactured unit like this

Windows 11 ARM 64bit?Cool, what your cluster use for? calculation or network services ?
@RetroMikeTech21 сағат бұрын
@ windows 10 ARM X64. Haven’t tried upgrading it to 11 yet. Mostly network based services, but I have used them for some compute level stuff in the past with them. Using it for some various homelab services. At some point, I’d like to get them upgraded to CM5’s using the DeskPi Mini Rack
