So it was a "female" tank, meaning just Machine Guns, but per the Imperial Japanese Defense Doctrine at the the time, only the Army could have tanks, so the Imperial Japanese cavalry, just called it a .... tankette to skirt the doctrine. A 90pt HMG and MMG Armor 7 with Recce Armored Car slot? A solid choice, can hunt Halftracks and other Armored cars, and hurt those pesky Vet Marines. Also the HMG is much more useful in K47 vs Monster/Horrors and Heavy Infantry. In the IJA we don't fight tanks with tanks, we use our spicy bamboo poles aka lunge mines...

I am a firm Type 92 believer! A big point in its favor is that with how small it is, there's a nonzero number of situations where you can maneuver her to flanks and threaten light tanks, and still offer pins to regular medium + tanks At basically all points, she either stands to punch down hard, or swing WAY above her weight class. Being in the armored car slot too, even if she gets blown off the table by an actual tank or AT unit, that's a turn not targeting your actual tank slot or turning explosives onto infantry- there's almost literally no downsides as far as opportunity cost is concerned. Imo the only other vehicle in competition for that slot is the Vickers Crosley for the 2 MMGs, but it's trading flexibility for stronger bullying potential, and I'd always opt for flexibility unless I knew ahead of time what my foe would bring

So Type 1 Ho- Ni Tank destroyer. Nothing says shock like your opponent making fun you park your infantry in front of it and say na na na you can't hit me only to declare an indirect shot and rolling a 6. Done that a few times with mine.

I fail to see how this is better than the type 92 hokoku-go for 15 points less also with recce and tires. The HMG is objectively worse against veteran Infantry than the MMG. Let's take an ideal shot for example, so 3+ to hit. The HMG will on average score 2 hits (2/3 chance to hit) and cause 1 casualty (1/2 chance on 4+). The MMG will score 3,333 hits, so let's round down to 3 and will also cause one casualty (5+ to wound). So you have the exact same damage output for 15 points more. The only advantage is to be able to potentially damage 7+ vehicles and cause pins on non-veteran armoured units. Depending on the list, enemy and playstyle this could be preferable, but going against Infantry the MMG simply is better point for point
