We all want that secret place in the woods that we can escape to. A place where we can unwind, rest and take in the scenery. But having a remote camp means there's work to do. You need to make sure it's clean, and warm, and that you have enough food.
My camp is remote and now I'm walking across frozen lakes to get there. And it's May!

Awesome photography. You have come quite a way. Thank you for all the effort in sharing this with us. I have a comment/suggestion for you. Just some advice from an old man who has lived off wood heat all my life. When cutting medium sized logs with an axe chop it like this. your swing should be right then left, then left then right, right then left. you will be surprized how much more material you will remove and with less effort. Give it a shot. Thanks again.

Suggestion: get yourself reasonably priced but easy to replace eating utensils that you wash and put away to leave at the campsite. Alternatively, you can try crafting your own. If you have access to horn, you can use hot oil to soften the material enough to carve and shape it to your needs.

Great video Jay. FYI in the spring as you know a bear will eat near anything. Even the residual scent of the packaged meat you brought along with tempt them and they will thrash that thing looking for it. Speaking from experience lol. Great job with the content. My whole family are fans

Always keep some plastic utensils in a tote at camp. That bear banger may scare the bear into attacking. Or it will run but circle back around to attack when you're unaware. Get a gun licence and a 12 gauge shotgun or 44 mag mares leg. After a failed bear bang you can give him some lead follow up. Some bears are habituated to humans up there, the tracks I saw were always black bear, never saw grizzly and it's not really polar country (although, maybe a pizzly would mosey down there, they're wierd).

I have the type of shotgun system that you tie to a tree and run wire and tie off to another tree so when a bear is coming to close to my camp it trips the wire witch pulls pin and fires the shotgun shell. Shells come as bear alerts, flares ( different colors ) stink bombs

Hang in there bud, you'll get better. You really should leave a set of cutlery at the tent, you can clean them thoroughly with snow, store them above with other items. I am with you about the chocolate, Cadbury makes the best, my favorite is the fruit and nut bar. caramello is awesome too, Enjoy

Hey buddy. Tip for the bear banger. I know it's expensive but play around with a shot or 2 just so you can judge the distance on how far it shoots. If you shoot the bear banger in the bears general direction and the banger goes off behind the bear you could actually scare it towards you. May be an ideal to shoot straight up. & you won't start a forest fire if it's dry. Just a suggestion.

Nice to see the area from the air. Never miss a video. However, lol, it freaks me to see you saw 2 logs of wood at once. It significantly increases the chances of saw kickback…and being alone in the woods , on foot, could be disastrous. Food for thought. Keep ‘em coming Jay!! Cheers!!

Another great video. I’m glad you explained about the bears and showed the devices you use. Of course the food part is great too. Here in the South we call that pork bacon (White meat) because it’s so white. We usually wash it first since it’s so salty. Yeah we eat it a lot here in Alabama. Your camp site is beautiful even without the snow. I’m sure the air quality is fresh. Thanks for bringing us along. 😀

I'm always delighted to see you arrive at your camp and its been untouched. A testament to the remoteness and character of the people in the area. Dude, Steak a medley of root vegetables, Bacon, Coffee and the Bears are just awaking up and starving??? Invite them over, meet your neighbors. A BBQ some songs around a campfire. Make a solid woodland buddy friend thing with the Ursus family. Promise them donuts when you come back and they will protect your property like watchdogs.
