TINY TRACTOR CHIPPER! HOW TO OPERATE PTO OFF THE TRACTOR SEAT!

In today's video you'll see how to operate the rear PTO from off of the operator's seat on your tractor. There is a very specific sequence you need to follow which is found in your manual. If you can't get the rear PTO to engage, it is highly likely that you are not doing something correctly. Take a deep breath, read each step, and try again. The sequence to operate your rear PTO off of the tractor seat is most likely a little bit different for every model of tractor. However, it can be a very handy feature to have to operate certain attachments such as the wood chipper pictured in this video.

Speaking of the wood chipper, that is a Wallenstein BX36S wood chipper and is a perfect match for a John Deere 1025r tractor or any subcompact tractor for that matter! The Wallenstein BX36s wood chipper requires 12-30HP at the engine! That is crazy low and well within the parameters of essentially every subcompact tractor on the market from John Deere, Kubota, Kioti, Massey, Rural King, LS, New Holland, Mahindra, and more! This subcompact wood chipper handles material up to 3.5" in diameter, it is self-feeding/gravity fed, and had many thoughtful features built-in to it's construction. These features include an adjustable base, zerk fittings for easy greasing, easily rotatable discharge chute, convenient hinged access to clean out any plugs or jammed scenarios, and more! Order your Wallenstein wood chipper from Good Works Tractors!

There are many wood chipper choices. I have a Woodland Mills WC 46. The independent hydraulic feed and build quality were the features that swayed me... I didn't want to stand at the chipper and keep trying to feed single sticks one at a time...I wanted a time saver. I also keep a Milwaukee Hatchet and a set of loppers handy for those odd shapes

Just a note to help anyone with a newer 1025r. The process changed to engage the PTO without being in the seat. You have to do the same stuff with neutral and parking brake. You have to push the override button while seated and then get off the seat and release the button. This was driving me crazy for a while. Everyone was explaining it the way it used to work. Hope this helps someone.

Have watched a few other vids but today wanted simply to see how to operate the PTO on the 1025R. It took wading thru nearly 10 minutes of the 12 minute video to catch how to run thru on a 2018 model 1025R. Didn't need a run down on the Wallenstein chipper as I bought a Woodland Mills for 1/3 less money. Still if pushing that model, great! Preferred seeing how to operate the PTO while not sitting on the tractor. Model shown has a different PTO Switch than on the machine I have. But a step in the direction just the same! Bottom line? Great information but overload on this video if a person just is looking to turn on the PTO when not sitting on the tractor.

Hi GWT! I have a strange question... I have a 2019 JD3032e and I want to be able to run a larger, PTO driven power generator. Do you think these modern, hydrostatic drive, *pollution controlled* tractors are up to this kind of task? Does sitting stationary, running from idle RPMs all the way to rated PTO RPMs for HOURS cause things like the transmission or emissions to overheat? Undue ware and tear? or are they built for that kinda thing still.... set it and forget it, or should I be looking for an older second tractor for this kinda work? Hope that question makes sense.

K, heard back. It is simply a rotation indicator. So, if you're on the backside of the chipper and want to know if it's rotating as normal, then you'll see a blurry white/red dial. If you think it should be rotating and it's not, then it's an indication of a jam/plug situation or perhaps it might also indicate the shear bolt has snapped. Good question by the way, thanks!

@@geralda.miraldi3535 I have a Wallenstein BXM42 which is a combination chipper (to 4") and shredder (to 2"). I have put a lot of leaves through it but only through the shredder hopper, not the chipper hopper. I don't think "chipping" the leaves is going to work nearly as well as "shredding" them. I would suggest that if leaves are going to be a large part of your machine's diet that you consider a combination chipper/shredder. Shredding the leaves works very well with the BXM42 unless the leaves are wet. Wet leaves tend to stick to the sides of the chute and clog up the works. Partial solution is to keep some small branches around that need chipping. If the chute starts getting clogged I feed a branch through the chipper hopper and the chips scrape the wet leaves off the sides of the chute. Wallenstein build quality seems to be pretty good - though they did mess up the welding (no penetration) on the twig breaker and I had to buy a new one. (Warranty expired before I noticed the problem.) I have worked the machine pretty hard for about 10 years now and the only maintenance besides regular greasing has been to change out the drive belts once.

No offense, but if I am going to spend that much on a chipper for my 1025R (rated @ 18 PTO H.P.), I am going with one that has feed-rate adjustable hydraulic in-feed like the Woodland Mills WC46, or WoodMaxx TM-86H. In fact, both are a tad bit cheaper (@MSRP's) than the Wallenstein BX36S model that you have there. If I had a sub-15 PTO H.P. tractor, then I might consider it for its excellent quality of build, but then again, there are also some fair quality Chinese built units that compete at
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 4 жыл бұрын
Not offending me, I don't make them! 😂 2 points that I'd like to make after looking at each of those competitors for a few minutes. First, I've said it before and I'll say it again, the longer a manufacturer will warranty his product, the more confident he is that it won't break! Both Woodland Mills & WoodMaxx only offer a 3 year warranty. Wallenstein offers a 5 year warranty. That is a substantial difference and raises questions in my mind about the individual components used as well as overall construction. Not stating they are "bad", but manufacturer's think long and hard about warranty terms for their products. Secondly, both of those chippers that you mention weigh 25% more and require a minimum of 50% more HP compared to the Wallenstein BX36S chipper. If you've watched my channel, then you know I am very conservative when making recommendations to my customers. I don't like equipment that will leave zero or only thin margins within the capability of the machine. The weight and HP requirement are both closing in on too little margin for my comfort level for folks with a subcompact tractor. That being said, there have been and will be folks happy with all three of these chippers. However, I think the Wallenstein gives my customers an option that provides industry leading warranty coupled with tractor requirements that leave substantial margin for safe operation.

goodworkstractors@gmail.com or 269-720-4107 are the best methods...yeah, no bluebook for tractors. I use tractorhouse for comparables.

Wood chippers required 10 hp per inch of wood! To do any Serious chipping your going to need a much bigger PTO tractor!

Hmm, are you working undercover for the competition? 😂 While I appreciate you watching, I find it hard to believe that any manufacturer, especially one as large as Wallenstein, would put out false information about tractor requirements for their products. This is not a new product, it's been out for awhile, and the information is plainly available on their website. Thanks again!

Good Works Tractors I own a Wallenstein 5 inch chipper. I’m well aware that the energy is stored within the flywheel but you still need raw power to spin it for any length of time!

The chipper is rated for 12-30HP. MOST subcompacts are 23-26hp, near the high end of the requirement. I'm going to take it to my hunting lease soon and destroy a bunch of fallen timber, so we'll see how it does with my 1025r. 👍
