Also a good source for polystyrene is disposable dinner plates - some cool colors available too. Check for the recycling emblem #6

A 2in section of CPVC pipe, inside the box and standing up on edge meeting the box lid top where vacuum holes are will provide a cheap and easy support to prevent the box from collapsing.

Nice video, Chris! Have you posted the solidworks part file anywhere? I'm using a slightly different camera and I'd like to check the models before I print. Maybe I'll add a fin as you suggested. I suppose I could use feature recognition on the mold stl but it's nice to have the original features. Thanks!

Guys, use a white milk jug, antifreeze jug, or oil quart container if you can't find actual vacuum forming sheets online. They are all HDPE & that works great for this too!!

Might be an odd question but instead of the 3D printer, can you use molded clay that's been hardened? Not really trying to buy a 3D printer. Have no need for it.

Hi Chris, Great job on the video and the mullet mod design. Can you please clarify the thickness of Styrene you used to form the canopy? I know you said .4 but wasn't sure if that was metric: 0.4mm or imperial: 0.040 inches?

Nice! I really should get myself a 3d printer. You should always design a minimum of 3 deg draft angle in the pattern, you won't need mold release.
@100epic4

Yep, but PLA has a low melt point i just wanted to make sure there was no heat sticking. worked great.
@dabooge
@dabooge 8 жыл бұрын
I believe PLA melts at 350F you shouldn't have any issues for a few pulls as the mold will never get hot enough.

Went by a hobby store but couldn't find this plastic sheeting. Where else can I get it from?
@dabooge
@dabooge 8 жыл бұрын
Search your for a local industrial plastic sheet supplier in your yellow pages. You don't want to buy it from a hobby shop. Kydex is the best for impact resistance. Lexan is good but needs to be predried PETG is also nice to vacuform as you don't need to dry the sheet. Poly Styrene is easy and probably the cheapest but not that tough

Hey Chris, how did you mount the camera and vtx? Double sided tape?
@100epic4
@100epic4 8 жыл бұрын
Yes since the vtx is now parral to the fc just a small patch or double sided work great and then i used a dab of hot glue on the two corners of the can to the vtx at about a 15 DEG angle. works like a champ

@100epic4
@100epic4 8 жыл бұрын
polystyrene sheets .4mm, you can also use PP or lexan.. if you don't mind clear you can even use a 2liter soda bottle just cut it up, but it takes a little more heat.
