Chris, it's good to find you on KZbin! I thought you were about the best on HK! This is a good modification and you explained it well! Thanks.

Holy crap, it's Chris! Haven't seen you since you left me hanging with the HK APM setup videos, lol. Good to see you're still spilling knowledge :)

Interesting, I was going to use right angle pins since I unsoldered my pins with a desoldering gun, but a desoldering sucker and some wick (with flux in the wick) would do the same. I figured the right angle pins will add support and won't have to worry about the wires breaking. Then I debated on a SMA PCB port to try a pagoda on it, decided against it when I realized the TX power and walls would help either way and a whip from an old 5gHz router antenna will give the same distance and radiation pattern with less weight. Easy to do and much more flexible, can still face up a little and won't break. For the canopy I would recommend just modding a Betafpv canopy, they sell them as a 5 pack and weigh less then a gram each. You can cut away a little with a exact knife or heat it up and remold it to what you want. Thanks for sharing your methods, it's all about the different ideas and flexibility to make your own decision or do your own thing. Scott

As IBCrazy pointed out, when mounting a CL antenna horizontal you will lose polarization and get inferior signal performance. Probably not a huge thing with the Whoop since it isnt going far but you will get better signal with vertical mounting which is important to reduce multipath when flying around inside rooms. Of course that defeats the purpose of your design to protect the antenna or better yet, use a dipole and then you can mount vertical without worrying about breaking when crashing etc. Cool design, thanks for posting!

Shouldn't it work the same if you just tilt your receiver antenna too?

Looks really good! But how about converting it to a simple wire antenna? Would save a lot of weight and trouble, but not sure about the reception with only 25mw.. tried it with a 200mw vtx and it wasn't great but more than enough for tiny whooping.

You skipped the part where you mounted the VTX/camera to the frame? how did you do this?
@saviers18 жыл бұрын
I was hopeful on that same missing section. I ended up going down the hot glue route.
@eman1989z8 жыл бұрын
I found hot glue to strong, and tended to pull to hard on things when removing it.. I got a roll of double sided tape (they call it mounting tape) and that was good for me
@GerbFPV8 жыл бұрын
Eric Bajalis how did you place the mounting tape for the camera? doesn't seem like there is enough surface on the camera when it's standing up and pointed forward to tape it to the fc?
@JBeeFPV8 жыл бұрын
You can use a heat gun around 150 degrees Celsius at 10-15 cm to warm the part up a bit, makes it comes off very easy. And it's very satisfying to peel it off too.. :p
@JBeeFPV8 жыл бұрын
You can either use hotglue or a 3d printed part

I don't have an Inductrix, But I do have one of the Quanum Elite cam/VTX units. The one thing that always bugged me about it was not being able to use the OSD thats built into the Quanum Illuminati 32 FC I've got on that quad (Hey, The quad's lugging it around, I wanna use it !). This video's shown me a way to intercept the video signal between the cam and VTX. I'm thinking I could cut the original bridging pin and solder a couple of short stubs of wire to them that terminate to 2 pins of header strip. That way I could connect OSD when I wanted to, Or bridge them with a jumper if I use the cam on a quad that doesn't have an OSD option. Thanks for the info, I've hit subscribe because you've just made my day. :)

I just got my Mullet Mod done. Every time I spool up the motors my signal has all kinds of issues. Didnt have them at all before. Am I missing a filter or maybe a placement issue?. Looks really cool. And works great on the bench until I spin up the motors then its like a old VCR with terrible tracking lines. Any Ideas?.
@nesnoumesain8 жыл бұрын
How do you, fasten the vtx and the camera to the frame& hot glue? double sided tape?
@100epic48 жыл бұрын
Yes since the vtx is now parral to the fc just a small patch or double sided tape works great and then i used a dab of hot glue on the two corners of the cam to the vtx at about a 15 DEG angle. works like a champ

thank you kind sir.

Is there a max length the wire can be between the camera and vtx? I've got about 110mm between mine, and I get no video. The vtx connects, but it's all black on the monitor.

110mm should be fine, check your pos and neg polarity

It may sound silly, it probably is silly, and you have probably fixed it by now, but you may have your lens protector on your camera. I leave it on half the time and don't realize until I put on the goggles.

Just curious if anyone has done this with a FX798T or the Eachine HF01? Seems basically the same but there are 6 pins connecting the boards

I did for another build. The left side (if facing you) is just soldered standoffs so that both sides are supported. can just leave those. I would just like to know if it is the same wiring order though.

Great vid! so its lighter because you're removing wires? cause so far in the video you're separating vtx from cam and adding the very light canopy , I would guess even if it's the lightest canopy possible is a net + of weight
@100epic48 жыл бұрын
well you dont need the heavy TPU mount anymore or the rabbit ears to protect the antenna so the total weight is less.

I shorted this cam with a small soder ball on a whoop :( i dont know what smoked on the back but the cam is good. the tx give the cam 3.3 or 5v? maybe i can use it with a new tx. just need to know if the cam will take 5v or 3.3 thanks
@jasonhackman55537 жыл бұрын
Since I'm 7 months late you probably figured it out, but i think that the cameras take 3.3v. I don't think they could withstand 5v.
