I love your house. Do you know what I see? An island on wheels that could replace your dining table. When you’re cooking it would provide you another great work surface. Just roll it into the kitchen. You could store bar stools underneath and out of the way. An island would also prove more drawer storage for spices and/or games. Have a great day and thanks for opening up your house. Love it!

Tables are not as high as an Island. So you have to think about the hight difference or if it's possible a kitchen island which can be lowered. You don't want to eat a table which goes to your neck.
@Proverbs.3-514 күн бұрын
I was thinking maybe a sofa table with a drop-down leaf so when cooking it could be lifted up for more space, but when not cooking, drop it down and have something to sit a drink on while watching TV. Also, when it's up, it could be used for dining. Shelves underneath could be used as some storage as well. 🤷♀️

Hello, I'm Dustin from the video. After the filming we did get a new table. We purchased a white Huskey 46" rolling workbench with a butcher block top. It has 2 drawers and raises and lowers. It will go low enough to be a coffee table and high enough to be an island.

Utilities were $900 a month But now their lot rent and electric are $780 per month… Except. Now they don’t own the land and are subject to the whims of the landowners rent increases. This doesn’t seem like a good deal. Then again, could they buy another home for $113,000? Def not a new one, but maybe an old one - I’ve seen 2 bed 1 bath houses for $200,000 and slowly fix it up. 🤷🏻♀️ Then I’d own the land and not be subject to rent increases on land I don’t own, or have the land be sold and prices hiked when I’m oldest and most vulnerable. I hope it works out for them, but From a risk management perspective I foresee problems that are more problematic than having a standalone home on my own land. This TREND is not as glamorous as it’s made out to be

Please tell your husband that I used to be a die hard “gas” stove girl my whole life…I’m 68 yrs old. But, I moved into an all electric home. It was going to cost around $5,000 (to have propane piped in, plus the added to that the cost of a new stove). So, I took a chance, and tried the new “induction” stove, instead…& I love it!! It’s even more responsive than gas, and the learning curve was quick. So, I highly recommend going “induction”, even over gas.👍☺️

I love the house. But just to clarify with your lot fee every month technically you’re only saving $120.00 a month give or take. So $80 utilities & $700 lot fee - $900 previous bill per your cost breakdown: $900 - $780 = $120 less. It would be much better if you purchased your own lot of land. Plus lot fees will probably go up!
@lucy_7615 күн бұрын
$900 for utilities only they never said how much rent was for the big house they were renting, our son rents a very small hours and that's nearly 2k per month, a big house would likely be at least 2k monthly.

However, even though our usage doesn't get higher, in winter months the amount TRIPLES!! This is an example of utility companies gouging Americans and causing economic problems for us. We're on a program of "averaging" payments for our electric bill. They charge you an amount based on them charging you an amount based on your previous year's bills.

Cute home! Just from a design and functional perspective - I would Turn the couch around and put it up against the windows, put the TV on the stair well wall. That would possibly even give you room to put a small comfy chair next to the front door. Move the table (or better yet replace the table with a bar height island/table with stools that can go under it) in the middle of the kitchen area. That would give you a surface to prep on and use while cooking as well as serve as your table for eating, games, etc.

It is a nice house. But the builder could have made a much thinner wall between the W/D and the fridge, if they made it a half inch thick, you may be able to put a regular size washer dryer on top of each other, in other words, a 27" wide washer and dryers stacked on top or the LG Wash Tower, which is one piece that vents out and has a washer and dryer stacked with the controls in the middle (for us not so tall folks) and both doors have hinges on the left side. It is an inside wall I don't see why the wall needs to be so thick. Love the front porch and the roomy loft. If I didn't live with my sister, I would have designed and had a tiny house built to my specifications so that I would not have to give up the things I want most and have a decent range/or wall oven (30"), and microwave, the LG Wash Tower. Many tiny home builders think you only need a 24" wide washer / dryer, and a small oven 24" wide. You can design a tiny house with room for a full size washer / dryer or wash tower, and a full size range, microwave or wall oven.

It's a great layout. Very cozy and inviting. Some thoughts: 1. I always see the homeowners sitting down in the loft area, but no one ever demonstrates how they move about in such a limited space. Also, how do they put sheets on the bed? 2. I do believe I could be comfortable and happy living in such a small space. I'm troubled by the fact that I wouldn't have my own yard with a privacy fence and a gardening shed. 3. Very few of them have a carport. That leaves your car sitting in the sun day after day after day. Also getting groceries unloaded is a problem in inclement weather. I'd need a carport. 4. I'd love to see a floorplan that would put the bathroom farther from the kitchen. That's one of the things that really bugs me about tiny houses.
@hannikulju999014 күн бұрын
How funny to think that unloading car is a problem. Because we live in Finland and have 17 steps outside before our porch area. I just carried 8 kg hay and 15 kg straw pellets in the rain. It was abou one minute per each that they were in. Then I ran back to the car and drive under the open garage. I don't want a door because it won't work well in snow anyways. It's just good exercise to run the stairs. Car is just a car...it can be in sunshine or under the snow while I work. It's made to protect you. I still think you have the right to your opinion. We people think so differently and that makes us interesting. ❤

@hannikulju9990 Oh, to once again be young and able-bodied*. It's been decades, and, although I witnessed the decline of aging loved ones, I couldn't appreciate the limitations until I got here. Enjoy your physical abilities while you have them. They're not forever. *I was once as physically able as a diminutive woman could be. Being a female under 5 feet tall, I always experienced certain built-in limitations. In my younger years, I found ways to compensate. Not so much in my late 70s.

Your home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. I love it! You thoughtfully planned out each piece. That had to take lots of consideration. This is perfect in every way imo. I have tried for years to sway my husband but he's 6'5" I'd never get him to agree ha ha. We live in over 6,000 sqft of space on 3 different levels. We hate it! Just purchased 30 acres and a 5 year old home in the Ozarks. The home is not a tiny home as it's 2,700 sqft with a separate Barndaminium (I think that's what you call them) on the property with a fully heated and cooled space, an additional apartment and kitchen etc. So not down sizing I suppose as far as property but interior living for sure. I'm just so excited to have it all one ONE level!

It really is beautiful and the layout is VERY functional, but I don't get paying that much for rent. I live in a 700-square-foot condo, and my HOA fees are $340.00 per month, including water, trash, radiated heat, and a heated garage here in Minneapolis. My condo was $122,00.
@kristinrodriguezrealtordmv343416 күн бұрын
How is it that people do not understand ground rent?!! It's been around forever. You can't compare your condo to their tiny house because you share walls with other people this is a single family home totally different living experience.
@H37P5kY5716 күн бұрын
Wow HOA is alot but my guess you have all sorts of nice amenities. My HOA is $200 and all we got is a dumpster and supposedly gardening. I just have weeds growing and lots of rock that came up from the dead grass and dead pine trees. Another set of townhouses HOA was $350 with a pool but I guess now I don't see it's worth it. I'm hoping once my development is done our HOA board will vote it to end. Been in my new townhouse and construction won't end until beginning of 2026 and we've already had 2 price hikes in HOA (granted it's only 10% but still that adds up). I know the people saying they think it's ridiculous we choose HOA....in the housing market I would need to pony up 300k more than my townhouse to afford a home without a HOA. We aren't really people that need a yard so that's why I was fine with a townhouse.

That's what I said. It's not that they're not paying for their water and utilities. It's that it's included in their lot lease of $700. My concern is that the lot lease amount is going to continue to increase. A lot of people get priced out of those communities that way, and then what?
