it is evident by reading a lot of these comments that most people have never driven a large vehicle. this engine is not as loud as you think, the microphone on the camera is very sensitive and most people are listening to music when driving anyways. the lines on the windshield are great because the large windshields always have a defrost problem just because the sheer size. safety is huge in these rigs and repairs are much cheaper and quicker because you can go to any truck stop and get service done. engine oil bypass units can be added to these engines very easily which enables you to stretch your oil changes to sometimes 50,000 miles and anyone who has had their oil changed on their rv usually says holy crap that was expensive. as for the price tag that was msrp if you are to stupid to negotiate a MUCH lower price than you probably shouldn't be purchasing an RV anyways you get what you pay for i just looked at a Jayco super C and it was pure garbage. their is a reason Haulmark has been around for a long time and are used a lot by Nascar teams they are very powerful and can haul a double stacker trailer very easily.

That Haulmark with VNL Chassis, sure's gonna be great! I drove a Volvo for a living. It's an amazing truck. Left only over here we don't have those latest VNL,(it used to have NL in the 70's & early 80's) but now they only have COE Volvo in the market. But still all the same features. I-Shift automated transmission is the best at it's own class. Safety is always the core value in Volvo Trucks. Love this video, Chris. Greetings from Penang Malaysia.

The one draw back for the C class motor homes is that many RV parks will not allow them or have very stringent rules about what's allowed. I've called several parks and was told the unit has to be 10 years old or newer, the truck seat area has to the same level as the living area and there's no bunk or sleeping area above the cab. These parks always allow a Class A "Bus type" .

Definitely need more insulation against noise. That would be a killer for me. Also in this video if they would have mounted the camera so that you were not looking between the heating elements for the windshield would have been a major improvement. They could have done a far better production.

If i would be buying an RV i would definitely buy something like this on a truck chassis instead of a bus/coach type chassis. Truck chassis are stronger and trucks are more dependable then a custom built coach/bus type. I really like the Volvo type chassis but i would settle for Freightliner, Kenworth or Peterbuilt, but my first choice would defintely be a Volvo chassis. Maybe it's time for me to finally buy something and hit the road. I just need to find some girl to go with me because i just broke up with my girlfriend two months ago, and as soon as i find a good gal that loves traveling and wouldn't mind living in an RV and me loving the RV little bit more then her then i am available. LoL. If i do find a good gal then i will be going straight to an RV dealership. Hope to see you on the road soon. :-). PS: Wish you safe and happy travels C&G.

Chris Travels many of the features that he is suggesting are available on other Euro style trucks. It's just that you don't get to see them on your US based rigs. I can think of Daimler-Benz, Scania, Paccar-DAF and Iveco that offer a complete driveline from each respective manufacturer. Some even offer more features, like lane assist, keeping a set distance behind another vehicle on cruise and most Euro trucks are just more quiet and comfortable. Seems he is just a good Volvo salesman.
@Fussinated
@Fussinated 8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Tucker In Europe the trucks are much small than the trucks in the US. It took them to reprogram the transmission completely so that it can work with the high out put American diesel engines. And of course, there is no way trusting a European company about its product quality since they love to cheat.
@MichaelTucker

Fussinated really? As if Volvo don't make programs for their trucks to suit other conditions! One of my regular drives is a 600hp Mack with the 12 speed Volvo automated shifter. Totally different in driving style to the cabover Volvo FH series and I have those to drive as well.

The thing he brags about with Volvo is also a problem with Volvo. Unless you happen to luck upon a Volvo mechanic on the road. What you want is what most truckers are running at the time you buy your Super C. That way any truck stop is familiar with it and can help you.

Volvo is known to be the or one of the safest in the industry. But this NOISY!.This doesnt seem to have a smooth ride as an RV should have, not at all. Safe truck? Yes. its a truck of trucks. Not RV mellowness. BTW, at 25:40 the video and audio are not working together. He is showing and pointing to guages and stuff while he is talking some things else. I like the idea of a truck chassis but of course the pro for safety long nose is the also a negative because it can not be used for anything else. Really don't like the look of the truck and this is meant for towing a trailer. You don't really need a 12 speed, tandems and 40,000 tow capacity for an RV. Great for Nascar guys with stacker trailers but overkill for visit Mount Rusmore. Single rear axle, with a 55 degree cut, 4X4 optional with a length of 30 feet would be enough for me.
@thedestroyer3262
@thedestroyer3262 6 жыл бұрын

in Canada you need a class D with a Z endorsement, Z is for air ,brakes, a standard operator's license id a G class witch you can not drive with, if you tow over 10,000 lbs then you need an A class, same as a transport driver,, your GVW is way over your G class. and chauffeuring people have nothing to do with it.

Maybe it's just me but the engine sounds a little loud in the cab compared to the DP's I have driven. I know it's due to the engine being located in the front in stead of the rear but I thought that was one of the advantages of driving a DP.

Nice to have a plain paint job....now how does a truck of that capacity get better gas mileage than a class a with half the power and a fraction of the towing??
@TOTALLYRELAXED
@TOTALLYRELAXED 8 жыл бұрын
+John Ford ...where'd u get 'half the power' from? For starters, this engine is comparable to ANY diesel pusher or better. And, he also said this vehicle could tow up to 40k lbs.
@johnford5568
@johnford5568 8 жыл бұрын
+JIM BRIDGES website says this rig 600hp, and an example class a might be tiffin phaeton at 380 hp. so not far from half the power.

maybe I misunderstood your question perhaps, sorry...don't know much about Class A's, but, 38 yrs has taught me a LOT about Class 8 rigs, like this Volvo, over the years! As for the hauling weight, I've hauled MANY loads weighing over 40k lbs with motors like these. Have a great evening!

sounds like a semi and what is up with the lines on the windshield that would be very distracting. the price tag is way more than I would ever pay to just have a mobile rv home.

+TheRosa63 The lines are windshield viper blade defrosters for cold weather. And the price is a bargain for a 45 foot Class A motorcoach.

About 26:00 the audio starts to get out of sync... You can hear the truck shifting and the blinkers going but the truck is not moving and you can tell he's having a totally different conversation... Kinda annoying...

I still don't like the looks of Volvos. Grew up with Macks and W900 KW's. I thinks a Glidder 880 KW with a C15 would make a nice Coach.

Pegleg Dave So true Pegleg Dave! It would cost to camp with it and store it when not in use. I hadn't even thought of that or the insurance either. Oh how I wish I was rich. I wouldn't buy this, I just want a Roadtrek Adventurous RS Camper Van which costs a small lottery.

+JIM BRIDGES My husband and I bought a 26' 10" 2005 Coach House with less than 28,000 miles. We are having quite a few problems that the dealer didn't tell us about. The hydraulic jacks don't work after driving down the road about 50 miles. You have to leave it set for hours before the panel that controls the jacks will come on but yet there is a light on the dash that comes on saying that the jacks are engaged when they aren't. It feels like the shocks on the van are bad or there is something really wrong with the air ride suspension system under the motor home itself. It has also had mice in it. Mouse droppings keep falling from somewhere and is all over the top shelf in a cabinet, the counter top, floor, one fell on the table and have found some mouse droppings in the closet. The slideout topper is dry rotted which couldn't be seen when the slideout was out. They had it all set up inside this huge room when we got there to look at it. So we didn't see the dry rot. It set on Lichtsinn RV's lot in Forest City, Iowa for 10 months. With all this aside, we really like the motor home.
