She Built a Tiny House and Found Financial Freedom & Community

Karin decided to build her tiny home after realizing she couldn't afford a normal-sized home in Portland, Oregon, without going deep into debt. She now lives in a Tiny House community and is very happy and empowered.

"Serenity" - the name Karin chose for her tiny abode - has a double meaning. A self-proclaimed geek, Karin named her tiny sanctuary after the starship on her favorite sci-fi TV show, "Firefly," and also because the definition of the words means: the state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.
Currently, Karin's tiny home is parked in a backyard community in Portland, Oregon, along with two other tiny homes. Karin's role in the community is to care for the garden. This year they harvested more than enough fruit and greens to feed all seven members throughout the summer months.
Simply Home Community is about to celebrate their one year anniversary. We'd like to congratulate Karin, Tony, Lina and the other community members, for creating a sustainable tiny house community model!

One of the biggest things I get from all the Tiny House videos on YT, is that the owners are happy! Looking at their faces and eyes you can tell that their stress levels are vastly reduced by living this way.....I so want to do this for myself, and I have some inheritance coming soon so it's a definite possibility, although, here in the UK the weather isnt great and finding someone with a piece of land I could rent could be an issue.....As much as I can imagine myself living in a tiny home, its a big step at 44 yrs old......I just hope I can muster the courage to finally do it!

I'm from rural Somerset and down here I know pleanty of people who've found farm land to rent with caravans etc, its easier than you think if you can find the right area! In my opinion go for it seems like people are happier when they do.

I especially love the way the ladder is positioned. You don't have to move it and it conserve space while creating shelving. Plus, with the futon downstairs you don't have to climb upstairs to sleep...if you have BPH and have to get up multiple times during the evening.

Nice & simple A beautiful home warm & inviting. Good thing about a tiny house on a trailer, you can move it until you get the doors & windows facing where you want them.... Not to be shallow...I mean, she BUILT HER OWN HOUSE! Having said that, she is such a beautiful woman! That hair! Her skin! She's lovely. And her house is amazingly welcoming-looking, peaceful, a sanctuary. It's adorable. Would love to do that but I would need to feel very secure. I've lived in gated properties for so long that it's been strange thinking outside of that. But having people fairly closeby seems very workable. She's a nice lady and very talented.
