Aloha, Brandie! I am also on Hawaii Island, nearby you, but in a ground-bound tiny house, not a container. Your home is beautiful and so practical, and *needs* to reach a larger audience as a viable alternative for people to afford housing here. The county and state make it so difficult with their bureaucratic over-regulation to build and live tiny...it is a wonder you were able to get your place built and allowed where you are, and to even have a Laveo toilet (I'm amazed!) You are an inspiration! I have been trying to find the ways and means to reach the right people to work with toward building entire tiny home communities here to help all people, and particularly the homeless, be able to have permanent safe housing. Would love to keep up with you and your container, and see if there is progress in keeping more Kanaka Maoli from having to leave Hawaii! Mahalo nui loa! 🤙

It makes me sick to my stomach that native Hawaiians are losing their land and homes to outsiders. I know of at least 4 families from Utah (that are pretty big on social media) that have purchased land in Hawaii and are building vacation homes there. I remember the young man from Hawaii who won American Idol saying his family had to leave the island and move to the states because they couldn't afford it anymore. 😢 I'm glad Brandie found a solution and I hope more Hawaiians do the same!

I’m in Oceanview and seen a bunch of people use these as a house and they are absolutely terrible place to live, buy a container and all the insulation and walls you need to put in to keep it from sweating , cheaper to build a small cabin. mobile tiny homes need 2 acres per Hawaii regulations, my good friend was forced to move his tiny home in milolii because of the state regulations . you can build 1,000 sq ft building with out a permit, I build a 400 sq ft agriculture shed that’s legal for $15k, that area she lives is well know for meth heads that’s why you need to lock it not hurricanes
