I can't change direction of each instance manually.It seems that it's depend on the normal map of the surface where the instance placed.

I tried all the steps here but for some reason it isnt working.. I'm using R18 is this an R19 trick?

what if I want the instance to start on the other end? I am trying this technique and I want the instance to be attached to the Mesh from the other end (so like in the example I would like the Puppet to be attached from the head and not the feet). How can I do this? I tried changing the pivot point of the original Polygon but its not working :(

Try enabling axis editing and invert the Y axis on the polygon object. Zero the transforms and then apply it to the hair. This way the mesh will be upside down but the Y axis will still be oriented in the + direction

When you're working on a character, chances are you need to create some hair for the top of their head, unless of course they're bald, or it's a animal or creature, then their whole body may need to be covered in a thick coat. Whatever the case may be, hair is an inevitable roadblock you must overcome. For all you CINEMA 4D artists out there. But to have 3D polygon object is even cooler 🤙🤙🔥🔥🔥

yes, if you change the axis location to the top of the object and rotate the axis
