Kilkenny lost a great hurler in Tommy Walsh that year only to be gifted an absolute legend of all time in a future Tommy Walsh! Tipperary and Kilkenny are the best :D

Hurling at that time was "DOG ROUGH" and wouldn't stand up to the skill of today, but I must say, exiciting !!!!!!

It's was a pity that some of the tipperary players had to resort to such dirty play .the Tom Walsh incident in particular left a sour taste for many years after from a hurling fan

By all accounts it was accidental . The video doesn’t really show much but you can see where Walsh goes down. With about 6 mins to go.Very sad that such a promising career was ended in a fleeting moment. He was having a great game.

The standard of hurling in that game was incredibly bad. The basics of the game were missing. Plenty of dirty pulls though.
