I'm so excited to say that I've had my ukulele for not quite 2 weeks, starting last week I started doing these exercises and today I finally was able to do this without sounding like a goose with a hairball!!

thank you for the great advice! I mostly have trouble on the 1st fret since it's so raised from the board compared to the other frets. Hopefully I'll develop enough strength for that one x

I vote yes! Every Day ☺️. It works!!! 30 days! I've added scales with the Barre to work all the fingers. It is worth the few minutes a day! You'll get so much more enjoyment!👍😎✌️

@layahma I agree. . . Same goes for the mandolin. My theory is that the neck is so narrow, it somehow forces the fngers to use even different muscles then those on guitar barre chords. Also, the strings are generally much closer so getting a clean sound with two or more fingers added to the barre chord make it an issue too

I have a new solid koa ukulele where the string tension is lower at the nut, however the frets are slightly lower. This is affecting some of my barre chords (the D7 form). Your exercises will help, thanks.

hey mike thank you so much for all these awesome videos! funnily enough i dont seem to have much problems with barring as show it in your video, but going from one chord (G e.g) to a barre chord is really diffucult as the position of ones thumb is so much different when barring. do you have any tips for that? cheers!

part of that is normal, but if it starts to hurt regularly when not playing, look up something like the hand band and eccentric finger exercises

Since when are using the French spelling of bar (barre) to describe a chord form used on a Portuguese instrument adapted by Hawaiians? LOL!!
