I have a few years on you and one of my eye brows completely disappeared so I can't even use the clear mascara. I have found products that give me a natural look and it just takes practice to get both brows looking great. The years seem to take a little more of something with every birthday! :)

Hi Heather, loved your video, hope you don't mind me tagging along for a while. I turned 58 last month, I have never done anything to my eyebrows except for plucking in my life, but they are thinning out & I have to learn how to do this & more, so I will be tuned in. I haven't tried it yet but you do make it look easy, it's a bit nerve wrecking cause I know me they will both have to look exactly the same, I'll never finish adjusting them :(
@lovingourage6 жыл бұрын
I've started putting castor oil on my sparse brows. Apparently it helps grow the hairs in. I put it on with a Qtip. You may want to try it. it's too early for me to say whether it works or not though. All the best - Heather P.S. Tag along anytime!!

This has been really helpful for me. I lost most of my eyebrows back in my 40's when I dealt with cancer and the dratted things never grew back properly (just little bits here and there) and luckily I have worn bangs most of my life, so it pretty much concealed it. However, I would love to actually "have" brows again and these tips will help achieve that. I have never heard of clear mascara nor the wax you used, since I wear little to no makeup. Thank you so very, very much for doing this for us gals who are older and still wanting to look our best.
@lovingourage6 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad the video helped you! My eyebrows on my left side continue to fall out and not return. I also do small brushstrokes now upwards (like actual hair strands) with a sharp eye brow pencil since they look more natural over the bare spots.
@kelltic1006 жыл бұрын
I did it exactly how you taught us in your video and they came out pretty good considering I'm clueless when it comes to makeup, let alone applying it. But as with everything, it takes patience and practice. I was wondering if you have every heard of the Maybeline Microblading Tattoo Brow Pen, and if so, have you tried it? If you have indeed tried it, I would like your thoughts on this product. Thanks again for all that you do.

Hmm...clear mascara (my "brow stuff" is in a shade called fawn), applying concealer to those dark areas (yes!), and...wax? You are seriously GOOD, Heather! You look phenomenal! I'm 72 and my hair is white around face and the rest is/has turned gray. What is best eyebrow color? I used to be blond and have always used light brown. I prefer brush-on brow, instead of pencil. Also, where can I find the wax pencils (without paying Ulta prices)? When will you give us brand names? and why have you held back?
@lovingourage7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't have the rights yet to mention trademark names in my video but I have done the next best thing and I am OK to mention them in my blog link. I'll put a link below and you can find the wax in the makeup blog that's on the page. Your eyebrows should still be able to use a light blonde pencil. I would say that if you used a white pencil it would look un-natural even with the white hair framing your face. I have a link to my blonde pencil on this blog and since I have a lot of silver it works for me. I think you might like this pencil, it's not hard on your brows and not as messy as a brush on brow would be.(I find excess of powder falls around my eyes) I hope this helps. Here's the link, just scroll down the page to the makeup on and click on READ MORE www.awesomeover50.com/shop/

Good one, always had problems with eyebrows due to those dark colours made me look too fake, will try your natural looking way...and that Hurricane is such a sweetie, I have my daughters 2 dogs, she passed away last Sept after 11 months in hospital from a ruptured aneurysm, she was paralized from the neck down and could not even talk except with her eyes...she would have loved your videos, she was 55 years young, you remind me of her. She was a hairdresser and a cosmetician, since she passed I have let myself go until I saw your videos and I told myself Nickie would tell you to put some makeup on and do your hair Mom and that's what your channel made me start doing. Thank you!

I had tears in my eyes as I read your comment today. I could not imagine such a loss. I am happy though that you feel that Nickie would want you to put on some makeup & do up your hair. Take care Diane.

Isnt it amazing that we ALL have the same stuff going on. I never plucked my brows as didnt need to, but they are going away anyway...like all my friends'. A tip I saw on a Hollywood makeup artist's blog was to highlight also ABOVE the brow on the bone same as you did under with a sunny highlight and it looks nice too....maybe better on some people than others. It gave my whole eye more definition. Love your videos...just a little pronunciation tweak, arch is pronounced like the name "Archie" without the "ee" sound at the end rather than a hard "k" sound. Sorry, my aunt was a speech coach and I took years upon years of lessons from her...not a criticism...your videos are great and thank you for taking the time to do them. We all continue learning things forever if we are lucky!

I have a brow where part of it is gone so you can try the same as I do. Brush up the hairs on the lower brow. I take a sharp brow pencil ( in a matching color to my brows) and draw in hairs individually to match height of higher brow. It won't take long once you get the hang of it. Then brush up the hairs on the lower brow with a clear mascara. If it worked, and you like it , fill in the higher brow to match (on the bottom of the brow.) Let me know how this works, it will look more natural than just filling them in with liner, and making them too big., Heather

It takes so long every day alone the brows!Is tattoo brows not easyer??
@lovingourage6 жыл бұрын
I guess to each their own Rosi, but my daughter thinned out her eyebrows years ago for a "look". Today thicker eyebrows are the "look". Also, as we age our hair and brows change color, I just think, for me, I wouldn't want something permanent. Heather

Thanks for your kind words. I'm so glad you're still open to learning. At 66 you have decades left to feel mmmmarvelous!

Loss of estrogen as we age causes loss of body hair. Wish there was a safe way to fix this problem. P.S. Why do you brush your hairs to stand straight up? I have never seen anyone whose eyebrow hairs grow that way.
@lovingourage5 жыл бұрын
I've just started using castor oil on my brows. Apparently it helps the hairs to grow back. Interesting comment on my brows. I think I brush them up because a thicker more filled in brow in more trendy right now.

So you only do two thirds of your eye brow and not carry through to the end?
@lovingourage7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I just replayed the video and at the 6:11 mark on the video I do show the end of the brow finish. Perhaps I didn't do it all on the second brow for timing reasons (didn't want the video too long) Sorry about that, Heather
@ladylookn7 жыл бұрын
I guess I still don't see it. You seem to carry thru just a smidge past the arc. So is it better to have shorter brows and not follow the angle from the nose?
@roshanwright34367 жыл бұрын
I've never used a concealer anywhere. ... what shade as in lighter or darker than our foundation.
@lovingourage7 жыл бұрын
Hi Roshan, for under the eyes it should be lighter or matching the foundation exactly. For dark spots it should be almost a match to our foundation. Here is the link to my blog to makeup products I use if you would like to try the one I use. If not, find one that goes with your foundation manufacturer. (That super-dark bull-caterpillar eyebrow look is a tad grotesque, even on 20-somethings.) I love what you do here. But I have to say that being pale, with fair eyebrows, gives you a big advantage. You can get great effects with very subtle applications. But what if, like me, you're white, but dark, with near-black eyebrows which end about halfway across the eye, thanks to youthful over-plucking? I just can't find a hack that doesn't make me look like a second-rate drag queen.........
@lovingourage5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if this will help you but I am now putting Castor oil on my brow line with no hairs. Apparently it will help them to grow back. It might be worth a try?

I have lost a lot of my brows and the ones that remain are very thick and wiry. They are supper thick in small areas. Very unbalanced. I have to draw my eyebrows very carefully and since I still have oily skin at 70 I have to draw my eyebrows twice a day. I almost got them tattooed but opted out for fear I would regret it.
@lovingourage5 жыл бұрын
I think you might have regretted the tattoo. As our skin sags they may not be where you want them to be a few years from now. I'm using castor oil on my missing brows now with a q-tip. They say it works but I just started.

I can kick myself for overplucking my naturally thick eyebrows years ago! Now they are very sparse. 😪 I like your hair straight. Looks more youthful.

I did the same thing with my brows. Thanks for the comment on my hair, I guess it depends on my mood how I will wear it.

Sometimes the lose of corners of your eyebrows is a thyroid problem. Check with your Dr. :/ ?
