I've learned so much about mediums from you although I haven't caught you mention that there's gels and fluids. I suppose with paint (as opposed to collage) you always should use fluid medium? By the way, you're very pleasant to listen to and I like the fact that I feel like I'm in the classroom with you! No annoying music and intro's and mindless chatter about your personal life. Love that!

Oh gosh! Just NOW seeing this. Once I can do tutorials again (meaning have someone to film me) that is definitely on the list! I have some different mediums but need to differentiate the two. Sorry this is so late! And hope I can continue to support you in your creativity!

Also, can I pre-mix the glazing medium with a touch of water to pre-mix colours for large, abstract work? I realize that it would be necessary to store these in good, sealed containers and mix well before using.

I hv found when working with acrylics you hv to add additional color either when very wet still or when completely dry

How is this glaze compare with oil glaze? Any visual difference?

Michelle, you mentioned in your own work that you use layers of glazing. I’m finding it difficult to get an explanation of this process. I wonder do you have a video, or any suggestions on this technique. I love the look of multi layered work, but don’t know how to do it. Fairly new to all of this. Thank you for your video 😊

Hello Sam! I do have a video on that. I will look it up for you and link it. I will say that it was in the early days of the channel when I was teaching in colleges, and I would simply have a student hold the phone while I lectured and demonstrated. So it won’t be a class per se on glazing, but it will hopefully have you understand the history and purpose of glazing so that you can better experiment on your own.

You may also want to go to my channel and navigate to the playlist section. I’ve organized many of the videos in various playlists, that might be helpful to you.

Too far from the camera for KZbin? I can't really see what is being done properly.

Eric Hogan So sorry! This was done on the fly and the person who volunteered to film it was the professor and she was seated far away. Next time, I'll ask my volunteer to sit a little closer. I will be uploading a new video on glazing with better sound in the next few weeks. If you subscribe to the channel they will let you know when it comes out. Thanks!

I was sick this week and while I was resting in bed, I took a couple of hours and transcribed the whole talk. Hope this helps. Unfortunately I have no control over where youtube puts the text or the size of the letters and the black background now blocks a lot of the video. I tried, but not sure if it's more helpful or less.

Also, thanks for telling me about the captioning. I did not know about how that worked and when you mentioned it I looked into it. Glad at least this one video will be available to the deaf community and those for whom English is a second language and could benefit from the written word.

You are welcome. I was sick in bed this week which gave me time to answer some comments on the channel and also to put some captioning on this video. Unfortunately the way they place the text also blocks part of the video - especially the part where I am mixing and painting. Not sure if this made it better or worse.
