Travis thanks for the information brother!!!! I’m using a brand called ME for nitrates because I get no readings… going to put an order for your NO3!!!! My phosphorus tester always goes up to like 16ppm that’s like 0.046 but nitrates stay undirected!!! Should be looking for something???

Hey Travis! Thank you for your videos! They have helped me a ton as a newbie. A lot goes right over my head as I’m “drinking from a fire hydratant” starting in the hobby.🤪

@fishofhex A great follow up video to this one would be setting up a Nyos skimmer (since that’s what you run) from the beginning. Properly setting up the skimmer and explaining the purpose of each knob and tube. 👍🏼

About testing - I find myself almost paralyzed when it comes to doing ANYTHING unless I test first. Sounds like a good thing right? Only if I have the time to test - sometimes I end up delaying doing something necessary because I don’t know the numbers. Trying to find the balance so I can avoid letting things get worse..... Love this daily q&a series! 👍🏻

Great length to this video and thorough coverage of the topic at hand. If further assistance on the subject is needed we can help each other or ask Travis questions down here in the comments section.

What are you tips for dialing in flow? My Nitrates and Phos are solid but I am losing tissue in my LPS. I am thinking flow, thanks.

Hi guys...is it okay to mix a ratio of the two and put them in the same canister to dose?

I was doing a water change every 2 weeks for my 15 g nano but it seems like it was making my water way to clean. I’m going to switch to once a month until it’s a fully stocked tank.

So I’m having algae problems with low nutrients (false reading?). So should I do big water changes or let the nutrients go higher or manual removal?

Do you plug your heaters directly into your apex? Or do you have a controller you plug them into and let the apex look over them?
@FishOfHex3 жыл бұрын
Directly into the Apex

Hey man love the videos !! Question on my nitrates. Have a tank 7 months old. Phosphate stays steady at .3 but my nitrates are high as shit around 80-100 ppm. 40g tank 5 fish no coral sand and reef rock. Been doing water changes and no change still high. So I did a 50 percent water change this week and there still high at around 80. Checked my ro water and 0 nitrates. Also change socks 2 times a week. Kinda at a loss at the moment. Thinking cheato in the sump may help with that so that’s the next route unless you have so better guidance thanks again really trust you opinion in this hobby you keep it real !!

I was having low nutrient and algae issues, PO4 was 0.01. I decided to dose Triton phosphorus - 1ml x 3, over a week period. Now my PO4 is 0.3! I have quite a few acropora colonies, sps, lps and anemones. The system is 1000L in total volume. Should I A) do two 250L water changes over a coule of days (50% total system volume) B) Use Rowaphos (GFO) to remove PO4 slowly over a couple of weeks or C) both A & B methods. I'm concerned about shocking the Acros. Would appreciate your thoughts on this. Cheers.

Wish I could get my tanks nutrients low enough to have to worry about raising it vs lowering it 🤣 so tired of elevated nitrates and phosphate 😑
@marcelrodriguez20673 жыл бұрын
My nitrates keep stable but my phosphates always end up increasing.
