Along the lines of health and care... how to you catch and handle your finches when they either escape or you are moving them from aviary to breeding cages etc. I've seen people use nets - which scares my birds and causes them to scatter - so I end up chasing them until they get tired and I can toss a tea towel over them. Any tips would be helpful!

I have that same issue. If my finches get outa cage, we're running around house untill there tired then we can get them, my daughter calls them hummingbirds cuz they're soo fast.. lol!! We normally find a baseball cap and used that to try an get them, but they are FAST!!!

Hi birdnerd! What is the frequency of feeding them egg food? All the time? Or just certain times? I'm brand new with finches! Thanks for the videos!

During breeding times I feed egg food daily. During molt is every other day. During resting period 1-2 times a week

Unless I misunderstood, you seem to have canaries in an outdoor aviary. I've considered getting canaries for my outdoor aviary but have always decided against it cuz I've heard that they have to be protected from mosquitos because there is a high chance of them getting canary flu or pox or something like that. Your thoughts on keeping canaries in an outdoor aviery?

Hi bird nerd I love your channel so much. I learn so much from you, I have a question. I bought A female red factor canary and I have a harz roller canary. I wanted to breed them but when I brought my female red factor home I put her in the same cage with my harz roller and she was very mean to him. And she was pecking at him and I want to know why this is happening. I always thought that the male canary is much stronger. And I have one more question I put a nest in my female canary's cage and also gave her nesting material. She built the nest and was sitting in the nest for 4 days. She then finally got out and she layed an egg right on the perch and the egg dropped on the floor and cracked. And she did this 2 times. Why does this happen and what can I do to prevent this from happening again.

Canaries can be tricky. I would place a divider between the male and female to Let them get used to each other. Once you see the male feeding the female through the bars that is a good indicator that they are both ready to mate with each other. The other thing could cause them to be fighting is your female May be ready to breed but you make isn’t. Make sure your male is not Molting and is in breeding condition.

I cannot get my Gouldians or Bourkes to eat sprouts, veggies or hard boiled eggs, how do you get them to eat it??
@birdnerd Жыл бұрын
Many times it takes them watching other birds eating them for the gouldians to try the new foods. Keep providing them on a consistent basis and they will eventually start eating them.
