This is such a useful lesson. I’m in my 50’s,been playing guitar since 16 but gypsy jazz seems so complex. You have just unlocked a vital key here for me, thanks so much!

I'm just about to embark on playing gypsy jazz stuff to mix into my own Spanish guitar styles.. This is a valuable lesson to me as it answers the question that always confused me - 'How do people know what to play next?' - the answer being 'know the chords to the tune well in advance'. Great stuff, now I can get started!

Great advice and some real cool playing in this video! Trying to learn too many songs while only half learning them is something that's so easy to get stuck with! It really makes a difference when you know the changes comfortably!

Great vids! I can't get my head around coming up with Tritone subs for minor swing for example blending E7 with bflat arpeggios if you ever get the chance that would be a cool lesson! Also diminished scales you recommend over dominant chords would be awesome! Thanks for the great lessons!

Where is the Bb7? Many people I have played with just play the straight Am/Dm/E7 without the change to Bb7 and when I play that it confuses them, but those are the changes I learned from your book.
@GypsyJazzSecrets8 жыл бұрын
bigmuddy1 you're right the Bb7 is almost always dropped in when playing Minor Swing. Try playing a straight Bb major arpeggio followed by E7 arpeggio in that bar - cheers! 😃 Robin
